Any idea what your vin #s might have been? You mentioned the one for the Baja races was #6. You might be able to track them down that way. I don't know for sure, but theres a guy here on the forum, TRIZTUNES that is suppose to have an actual Factory Yamaha Tri-Z. Maybe its one of your old ones?

Hey How do I tell, what my # on the production line is off of the vin? I would love to know and I see that people know so any ideas?:beer

Post your vin
I think its something like the first Z's vin started at 101, so your profuction number is however many after that.

My Z is something like number 12600 lol

So does anyone else have input on how to tell the production # off of the vin on a Tri Z?

i allways thought it was the numbers after the letter for the year..if thats the case my 86 is the 399th and my 85 is the 6202th lol

Thats right Raffa, Just remember to - 100 from the numbers after the year letter to get your actual production number.

Why not? They made more then 6102 machines in 85.
You just got one in 86 that is near the firts of the pro line.

because brett driscoll said him self that the one he had was 0006
so the pro line was the first 100 bikes I take it

my vin is jy33bw0025fc012640. Is mine the 12,640th made? or is it the 12540th made if I minus 100?

Your Z and mine are pretty close, Maybe have been just a few days apart on the production line.

My production number is 012269 Tri-z number off the line 12,269.

Just rechecked the Yamaha sevice manual, The trike in there is number 000007.... So I guess they did start at 1. Sorry guys!.

Mine is like 000802, so I always figured it was the 802nd off the line. I don't have my service manual handy to see but I'd never heard of them starting off at 101.

I don't remember the prefix, but the 85's have their product code (38W) in the VIN near the beginning. If I remember right the 86 is 1RX (Does that sound right? I know 24Y is YZ250).
