Would the Krylon Fusion plastic paint work on metal(the gas tank)? Asking because Im wanting everything to be the same shade, and am thinking that itd best achieved with the same paint from the same manufacturer. LMK~
ps..does anyone have the part number for the Krylon Fusion red paint?

Yes you can use it on metal, but if i was using Krylon I would give that a few coats of automotive clear coat, its alot stronger and wont peel off like regular spray paint.

Cool deal. Ill pick up some clear too. Would you use clear on fenders? I dont want to have to wear sun glasses to look at it, but I dont want it to be totally dull either. Thanks for the quick responses, Im headed to the store now and will let you guys know what they have.
Im bringing the gas tank for reference.

It might work on the fenders for a while, but i think it would eventually chip off. Its not ment to flex like krylon fusion is. If its a front fender i dont see why not. The duplicolor clear is a good choice too.

Yeah, I decided against clear. One determining factor...They didnt have it in Fusion. :P
I got Krylon Fusion 2328 Red Pepper/Safety Red
Even though it was the only red shade they had, it appears to be a near perfect match when holding the cap against the gas tank. I will see when I spray the fenders. The bottom is getting done first, then let dry to see if it dries to the caps color. Doesnt spray paint usually dry a little lighter than the cap anyway? We will see!

I got the bottom sprayed. It started to get cold, so Ill just do the top tomarrow or whenever it warms up.
It was really orangish looking at first which made me think I just wasted 10 bucks on 2 cans of paint! Well, as it dried, the redder it got. Now, fuly cured, it looks like a near match! The only problem(which isnt really a problem) is that its duller than Id hoped. Oh well, its shinier than after I tried the 'plastic restoration' with sandpaper. They looked like pure hello. Now.....not so bad!
FWIW, the paint dried looks exactally the same as the cap. So, I guess this one wasnt made by a politician? :wondering

Sure you can use the plastic paint for metal, but it's not going to last.
Get a little gas on it and it's coming off.
If you want a paint job that is going to last awhile on plastic.
A base coat/clear coat is the way to go. The paint and clear are very flexable.
You need a good clean surface, ad. promoter, primer for plastic and base/clear coat. Should last years unless you trash it.

I got the top done and everything put back together. Its not perfect, but is very satisfactory. Up close, you can still see scratches(I filled in with putty) and whatnot, but hardly. Its a 2 footer. Ill try to get some pics up soon.

I havent painted the gas tank yet, but hopefully it wont look too different from the fenders.

That looks nice. Did you use a primer or sand it down first? That thing will be a lot nicer than when I saw it.
I picked up a can of a Fusion latex paint to try on some fenders. I don't know how well it will hold up, I figured the latex should give it some flex. I did not look to bad. I just tried it on a old useless set of fenders with no sanding or priming.
