The steering on them has to suck. It cant be easy to turn 2 tracks with a single dirtbike-like wheel!!

I wouldn't be so sure about that, I would almost bet they are track steered too and rely more on them by far then the front wheel to steer it.

I think they are dowright cool and must be worth a LOT of $$.

Just imagine coming across ones of those in your area!

No FUN???

Can you say a blast?

Who cares about how they look. I can imagine Chris having one, he would not go across rivers, he would just travel up and down stream!

I would too though!

Where's RUSHA

Seems your the dumb one AAAAAAAHAA HAAA HAAAA

Seriously though, for what they were designed to do, pull small loads in mountains, I'm sure they did it very well.

They would make it through much deeper mud then any trike so why do you think they are dumb? They are not that slow either.

" The Kettenkraftrad, type HK 101 is one of the most unique vehicles developed during the Second World War. The "tracked motorcycle" concept was conceived and patented by a German inventor, Heinrich Ernst Kniepkamp, in June of 1939. This was in response to a request for a fast, tracked vehicle capable of moving small loads in mountainous terrain. "

That would be sick. What engines do you think they're running? Put a good 6.2L diesel with a FAT ol' turbo on her. mmmhmmm. I would buy one. But I agree, loose the front wheel/tire set up, and add a turret!

Still think they are boring?

Like I said, a pure balst it looks like to me and I might add that's an AWSOME video! Our three wheelers are fun but could never do some of that stuff.

A different kind of fun, ya know?

Those are old German halftrack bikes used in WWII. There's a guy in Wisconsin who has about 20 of them... he collects all kinds of WWII vehicles, even copters and tanks. We rode around in one, no suspension at all. The steering triggers switches that in turn give or take power from each track. These things can pretty much go anywhere... except float.

I can see Howdy might put up the 3 wheeled car for one of those at Trikefest. I wonder if I can stand that thing on the nose for 10 seconds like I did Howdys 3 wheeled car:beer

Lets do some thinking here now..............if we get (since it's xmas time) every member to chip in a lousy 5 or 10 bucks we could buy Howdy one possibly??

It could be the official TF mobile!!

Wonder if that guy would sell one?

Just a hair brained idea of course but then again ...............

Saw one of these at a truck show, total barn find but running condition, the steering is through the tracks, and the whole rigging of it is pretty intresting. it's all run through the bars with linkages IIRC.

Since your into my idea Howdy why don't you or XTrump get in touch with this guy and see if he has any for sale?

Each member that donates can take a spin on it at trikefest. I'd be real happy with just a 10 minute ride and a video of me doing so but most happy seeing you get one and paint it up real nice with 3wheelerworld.com on each side of it.

So simple to do being that 3WW has tons of members that would chip in hopefully. Want to dig a bit deeper and see if this could really happen, that's if there is one available.

I have no idea what one would cost though? Probably pretty expensive, maybe too much?

Cool! I'm anxious to know how much each member would have to chip in. I'm sure not everyone would go along with the idea but since this is a free site to join, why not help out with a donation so the purchase of the 3WWTFT (Trike Fest Tank ) can become actual reality.

I've been looking into the Kettenkraftrad for a few years now. They aren't anything near plentiful and nowhere near cheap! The last complete(with incorrect unoriginal parts) running one I saw for sale was in Europe and had a price tag of $30,000. The only original Kettenkraftrad items that ever show up on eBay are rusty bits dug up at battlefield sites. If anyone has good parts or machines, they are immediately snapped up by the tightly knit community of armor enthusiasts. No need to auction anything off as everything is prettymuch guarranteed a home.

If anyone can track one down cheap and locally, have at it!
