All I''m back with anouther question... weeing that there is a huge knowledge base here:w00t: have any of you put a TRIZ 86 trany in an 85 triz case? I have an 86 Triz 6 speed trany and was wondering if I could put it in my 85 triz, its only a 5 speed so.... thus my question :)

You have to change not only the tranny, but also the shift drum, and shifting forks. The rest of it is the same.

Sweet I have all that! Wonder if its worth all the trouble??? or should I just change a sprocket... Im riding in GLAMUS the DUNES and would like a little more pull on the hill ya know... :) Any good motor mods???

A sprocket change will get different results, so it would depend upon what you are trying to achieve. The 6 speed has a wider ranger from minimum spped to top speed, and teh gears are closer together. I prfer it for trail riding, but Id rather have the 5 speed on the MX track where the closer gearing of the 6 speed requires more shifting. The TriZ has lots of low end power so the closer gearing is really not necessary on the track.

You can get some power reeds, and an aftermarket exhaust. That will give you some extra kick without any major work.
Have any pics of the Z?

I do have some pics... there at home so I will bring them to work tomorrow.... Hehehehehe yeah I have done alot of mods just wondering if there is something out there that I havent done.
I have port polish, aftermarket pipe, reeds, shaved head, punched to the 1.00, any other stuff would be good!

There is a YZ250 that has a 6 speed that bolts right in. I think it is a 1983 or 84? It has been 20 odd years since I did this, but I think thats the model.

6th gear is useless at Glamis. I'd leave it be unless something is broken. Sprocket changes and some motor mods will be a better use of your time and money.
