i just put a new clutch and springs in my 250sx and everything works fine and shifts fine but i dont have neutral in between gears now. what i mean is before the new clutch i could pull the shifter up and hold it up and it would be in neutral then when i let go of the shifter it would go into gear no matter what gear i was in. now with the new clutch and springs as soon as i pull the shifter up it goes right into gear with no neutral in between gears.
is that how it suposed to be or should i have neutral between gears? the clutch has sliped sinced i owned it, it just got worse. now i have no slipping at all which is great but i miss the between gear neutral.
oh i adjusted the clutch play lever but it didnt help.

have you adjusted the clutch since installing the new one? I would be willing to bet thats your problem..there is a manual available somewhere here for download. This is what I could find:
on the right side of the engine..remove the black adjusting nut cover.
Loosen the nut, and turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise until resistance is felt. Then turn the adjusting screw clockwise 1/4 turn and tighten the adjusting screw locknut to 14-18 ft.lbs.
reinstall the cover and check for proper adjustment.
It sounds to me that the adjustment screw is wayyy tight right now, same happened to me when I replaced the clutches in my old 200s. I had to back way off on the screw. Hope this helps, dave

i think thats how its suppose to be -
neutrall between gears is hard to find on a motor- because its designed to go into gear- the shift drum and forks are made for each gear, and neutral, not neutral between gears--
did you change the shift drum tension spring?
mabe it was because the fiber plates were wore out,and allowed it to slip between gears-(not good)

Did you install the actuator arm properly when you re-assembled it? If the arm is turned just one notch off it will cause this problem. The actuator arm I'm talking about is the one that goes on the inside end of the shifter shaft.

yeah i lined up the little dot on the arm with the arrow on the inside of the block. but when i get it apart i will recheck it.
my buddys what to go ridin tonight and im not gonna have a chance to tear into it so do you think it will hurt anything to ride it like this. there no grinding of the gears or anything. it shifts fine as long as i let off the gas when i shift. if i dont let off it gets jumpy when i shift.
come to think of it my dads 225 moto4 is the same way and its been like that for years and my buddys tri moto does it to, i just thought that was a yami think.
