85 Tecate back from powder

Just a sneak peak of one part I just received back from my powder coated. Color is granny apple smith green from Tiger Drylac Powders. I had everything done in green and gloss black. After downloading the pics the color is not represented very well? Anyway, it seems to be a nice color and should match the “Flat new Maier plastics I have laying around, I’m not in love with the Maier green color.” It's hard to get time to work on it daily but hope to have assembled, minus engine before x-mas. I'll get some more pics uploaded as project progresses, along with my 86’ T3 500 build, stay tuned!

Thats a great color for a tecate! Almost the same color I got my old sx frame coated in back in 2000.

You hit it on the head BGM, low pro maier. I'm not crazy with them though, but their new. Waiting for my kx525 big bore back from Eric Gorr. It won't be back until March 07. Powder is done by a friend in Cedar Park, Texas. Award winning work and he is 2 months out on orders. He only uses Tiger and Caswell powders with the newest application equipment.

Sorry, I don't. In fact I'm using a +2 85 swinger with 85 Uni-trak suspension on the 86 frame. I wanted to go with the 4 on 100 bolt pattern. I really wanted an 86 swinger and wanted to install the 85 carrier. I've been looking for an 86/87 swinger for 6 months, no luck as I'm sure you have also, no?

I'll be picking up 3,'86 Tecates in late January. 1 is really nice,1 has potential to be a daily driver and the 3rd is a frame,swingarm and axle. I'd like to hear more about the '86/'87 500 conversions. I've done a couple of 500R sawps a few years back but never a Tecate/KX. Start a new thread maybe??

250rulez, I haven't been looking that long but they are somewhat rare to see on ebay. I need one to stretch for my 85.

Too bad you hadn't mentioned needing the 4/100 bolt pattern sooner. I had a trick pair of 86/87 Tecate 3 Durablue hubs that had the 4/100 bolt pattern instead of the 4/156. Sold them to a member on these forums for $50. Wish I had of kept them and changed over to an 86 rear end setup to run them.

Maico, the 86/87 T3 500 swap is pretty straight forward. As far as I can remember you only need build front and top motor mounts and notch the frame above the spark plug so you can remove the plug/cap. The pipe needs to be modded but it fits very close to stock.

Just got the back, came out excellent...did the stock wheels and swinger black. Color is something else, pictures just don't show the true color?

Its nice to see a colored frame other then black. Mine is going to be purple, but its not quite the color im looking for.

I understand completely, I am working on another Tecate soon and I'm going with Purple. It took me forever to find the color purple I was looking for. The colors were either too dark or too flat...This is what I'm going with...
