I found a running 84 KX250 to fix my 84 Tecate but the kickstart shaft is bust.
Part #'s are 844866 and 844868. So they are different.
Does anyone know what the difference is and can I use the kick start parts from the 84 T3 in the 84 Kx250?
How about the 85 T3 kickstart shaft/parts? Is it the same as/work in 84 KX250?
Need to figure this out by Thursday.
Thank you for any help.

Cases do not need to be split. The kickstart can be removed completely once the clutch cover is off.
A complete KX250 motor (83/84) will bolt into the Tecate but I think you know that. It will be a great runner with the KX motor. Use everything from the KX on the Tecate, motor, carb, pipe, all wiring and electrical.
As for the kicker, all you can do is try because I don't think that has been brought up before.
I can't wait to see that machine when you finish. I'd buy the KX off you if I had the coin now.

Oh and could you snap a few pics of the KX airbox? I'm gonna take a look at it on Partsfiche and see what I come up with.

#13066 for both the 84 KX250 and 84 KXT250 kickstart shaft on Partsfiche. Its the same part. You buy this machine yet?

No I have not bought it. I wanted to know what I was getting into.
I used bikebanditt.
Guy claims it runs but I want him to prove it for a bargaining point.
I will post pics for you but just remind me if I forget. I don't have a camera to take if I don't buy it though.
I more than likely will try cause these bikes are hard to find.
Also the rear shock is claimed to be replaced and brand new looking.
Newer carb too but this guy knows very little about motorcycles and the carb.
Pipe undented, after market silencer unknown.
After a second look I figured out the case ? Thanks anyway though.

I know it says part #13066 on the pictures but the pictures seem generic on all sites the actual order #'s are different as stated above.

I'm goin by the numbers, the two motors are practically the same aside from the cylinder porting and tranny ratios. If you don't use the entire motor then use the KX parts on the Tecate motor. Cylinder/carb/ignition/rear sprocket too..and part the rest.

Yeah the electrical and carb is what I need so that is why I want it to be running.
Well most likely this will be my winter project the more I think about it.
Hope I get a good price!

Awsome, drop the KX motor into the Tecate! It'll be a beast! Be sure to keep us updated.

I know the kx cylinder makes about 5 more horses than the tecate stock.
