Hey guys i need some help. Here in Newfoundland Canada it's now the law to have any ATV registered. My problem is I CAN NOT find out who the orignal owner of my bike anywhere. This bike was owned by three or four people in the past. They can't tell me if the bike was ever registered in the past or not. Now where i was living before on the north east coast, the whole registration on the bike was non sence because the town i was living had maybe 75 houses and well there was no cops. might of seen them twice in the 6 years i lived there. Now because i moved to the west coast of newfoundland the cops are hot and heavy here. So I want to save on the problems i would more then likly have down the road and have this thing plated. Is there away i can run the vin number online to find who the orignal owner was. Or can i go about this some other way. Either way some where, some how i have to get this thing plated before i lose my baby to the RCMP and have a 500 doller fine.

Thanks

Im going through the same thing with my 85 ktm and my 83 110 right now. I was stupid and caught up in the moment when i suckered the owner of my 110 to sell it to me because he couldnt get it to run and wanted to get it fast before he really thought about it and never got a bill of sale. Then on my ktm the guy before me has a bill of sale laying around somewhere that he is supposed to find for me this weekend from the guy he bought it from which supposely had the title but misplaced it. So im going to get a copy of the bill of sale for the ktm from the owner before the one i know to the person i know then have him write me on so i can tab/license whatever it. Hopefully it works.

On my 110 though im hoping i can go to the DMV and tell them the story and they can give me some contact info for the last owner of my 110 and i can either get the title or atleast a bill of sale from him also.

I don't know about Newfoundland but here in Ontario, I just brought the VIN into the ministry and got them to print me out the used vehicle information package, witch has the last registered owners name and what area the vehicle was registered in. Then all I did was use canada411.com and look up the name and got the phone number and called him, mailed him the bill of sale that came with the used vehicle package and got him to sign it, then brought it in to the ministry and $10 later for a new ownership, it was done. If that doesn't work you have to get an affidavit swearing that you own the vehicle and could not track down the registered owner, and its a real pain in the butt. Good luck!
