83-85 200x sprocket question.

I have'nt Investigated this very hard, but my local part's guy's tell me I can't buy a bigger rear sprocket that stock. I believe the stocker Is 40 teeth. Someone has to make them or something else might fit. They bolt on with 5 bolt's most other sprocket's use 4 or 6 bolts. Anyone ran Into this?

I just searched 3 sites and allof them are 40 except one on denniskirk which is 35 tooth.

typically---Rear divided by front gives you a Ratio...

Figure the size you want , the size you have, and the front sprocket.If you play with the numbers, you will find a way to reach the same ratio by LOWERING the front gear. My yammi is the same deal . only two choices for rear, but 5 or 6 for front.

I have a 60 or 70 tooth sprocket for my 200x. I havent looked at it in awhile there is a pic of it somewhere on here. I run a 34 in the rear though.

How Big of Sprocket do you want? I have this one ( below ) at the shop. It's around 80 teeth. lol

Wow I was thinkin maybe 43-44 tooth, that's a big dog there. You'd need 25" tires & that sprocket would still dig a groove in the ground :lol.

Unclediezel, It's for my 500 that I converted. I have the smallest front sprocket I can get on the engine. I have to change the rear to gear It down more. I remember seeing a custom sprocket place In dirtwheel's. I guess I will go that route.

If nothing else,I bet Sidewinder will custom make one for you.It will cost you though.Their stuff is awesome though.My buddy gets 2 years out of their stuff and he rides a lt250r and weighs about 330 pounds.He snaps regular o-ring chains after 2 rides.

dude i wouldnt gear it lower, the stock 40 tooth almost seams to low already, the first time i hopped on mine right away i was like this thing has to be geared a little higher, i ended up buying a 35 from my local shop

xman23, I need the sprocket for a cr500 that I converted to a 3 wheeler using a 85 rear axle with a custom made concentric carrier.

take any size sprocket you want ct out the middle then cut the middle out of a 200x sprocket and weld it in. best idea i can think of

hey, if you're running 12-40, that's 3.33, 12-44 would be 3.67. Go to sprocketspecialists.com , they make all sizes, and the catalog comes with a ratio chart. Or get yamahonda man to make a 4 to 5 adapter for what you already have. You can also turn the hub around on the 83-85 200x to line up better. that's what I had to do with the 750's.

hey, after a little research, I found out you can get lots of different rear sprockets for trx250x/r, 300/400ex. so why not an adapter to put them on 200x 83-85? would only have to be a donut with 9 holes. I have an 83 200x rear hub, does anyone have one of the other sprockets they could donate to a worthy cause? doesn't have to be a good one, worn out is good, just not bent up.

I would have used a 86-89 250r axle, but the offset was way wrong. The 200x carrier Is quite narrow & worked out great, because the axle would'nt be offset way off to one side. I will just have one custom made from sprocketspecialist.com. Thanks for the Idea's guy's.
