so my neighbor came over the other day and asked me if i wanted her trike for $100. she told me it dident run. so i went over and took a look at it. turns out its 82 ATC250R. its had spark and compression so i was willing to bet it was the carb. i bought it. drained the fuel, cleaned the carb, and it fired right up....... for about 5 minutes. spark would randomly cut out. so out came the razorblade to inspect the hack job wiring that the previous owner did. a sub par butt connector job was easily fixed. then i decided to yank the flywheel. good thing cuz there was NO flywheel nut holding the flywheel on. the washer was sitting in the bottom but no nut to be found. anyway, got the flywheel off and the stator was covered in rust, metal shavings, and corrotion. i cleaned everything up on the wire wheel and tossed it all back togather (with a flywheel nut) and she fired right up. superb throttle resopnse and idle. not bad for $100. and for a extra $20 she thew in another set of rear tires on rims with hubs and another set of forks off a 83-84 model with wheel, tire, hub, and brake system including brake line. talk about score aey? its got 190psi of compression and what seems to be a boost bottle. is that normal? when i was younger we owned a 350x for a while but other than that this is my first 3 wheeler. i have only rode dirt bikes and quads.

this one just basicly fell into my lap. i had the garage door open workin on something and this lady just walks up and says you want this for a hundered bucks. i couldent pass it up. another funny thing, after i got it running she comes diving up in her mini van and was all suprised that i got it running the same day i picked it up. it does need new axle bearings and some fresh brake pads and maybe a nice black seat cover, other than that its a nice little trike.

yeah it is, looks to be pretty solid, even the fenders for the most part.

yeah, the fenders are in decent shape concidering the year. only one spot on the right rear where possably a passanger was sitting rubbed the fender a bit. one of the first things i did was removing all the early 90's stickers from the tank. there must of been 20 of em.

Dude, not fair! That thing is SWEET, I've always liked those air cooled R's, and for $100, you could have done a LOT worse.

the tires work great that way. i rode it yesterday in about 2-6 inches of snow for about 4 hours. it went everywhere. where everyone else was getting stuck, the 250r just ziped right through. i was riding with a trx250r, 400ex, lt250r, yfz450, and a yz250. they act more like paddles when you run em backwards, better for the snow.

Damn dude, what a deal! My dad sold his 250 out in front of our house last year for 500! And it was in much worse shape than that.

Looks like she runs pretty healthy too! I'd suggest at least some work boots for riding in, tennis shoes don't protect much.

ive been riding in tennis shoes for the last 3 years without any problems. i use to wear riding boots. i like the freedom of full ankle movement.
