There are no bearings on the cam. You should buy a manual, it has lots of specs and what-not to help you decide if something is worn or not. I would think if you just did the rebuil 5 hours ago...then you probably did something wrong.

the wear is on the cradel where the cam sits

would a buffing wheel on a dremel work???

no man, if that cam part is worn...it is best to buy a new one.

If it is worn, buffing it will help nothing. Dremel=takes stuff away. If it is worn that would not be a good idea. Look for a new one on ebay. I think there is a couple on there now.

Al depends how bad the galling is on the head. You can get away with just cleaning up the "cup" if it's not too bad. Otherwise you'll have to find a good used head, or get an aftermarket cam with bearings on the ends. Megacycle can supply this. Here's the link: http://www.megacyclecams.com/catalog/page26.pdf
It's expensive but this'll put aside fears of a badly galled head. My 350X had some bad galling, but the local bike shop looked at it, cleaned it up and i just installed a stock type cam. 10+ years later it's still running fine, no problems at all. Now with that all said, you need to find out why it became galled. Run out of oil? Plugged oil lines? Be sure to fix the problem before ruining new parts.
