There are tons of different things you can do to "trick your trike". You can replace your non-suspended front forks with that of a 200S or 83 185s. You can get engine performance mods like a hotter cam and a new better breathing header and exhaust.
There are tons of little things you can do to spice it up. New polished wheels - custom seat - custom tank. The possibilities are endless.
As far as the V8 goes,

yeah, i hear the 350 is a near bolt in addition  .
Seriously though, There were some aftermarket frames made that had full suspension, You can mod the engine with pretty much any 83-85 200X aftermarket parts. Get a little more power out of it that way for sure.

With alot of patience, you may find an old aftermarket frame set up to convert to a monoshock suspension frame. You should be able to find an aftermarket front end or use the 83 suspension forks. A more plentiful way to go is the 200x frame assembly. The 185s engine is a drop in. Then the only real trick is to come up with the modified pedal so you will have working rear brakes. The old frame kits for the 185s are cool though. If you do a search for suspension 185s, you will see the pics I have of mine with bolt on rear and aftermarket front suspension, 200x pipe, 200x cam, holeshot tires on douglas rims, plastic tank. Good luck with whatever you do.
