I am new to trikes, been riding quads for a long time. But i Just bought a 1970 honda 90cc to work on. I havent picked it up yet but I saw a pic and I read that they have a 1-piece wheel & rim??? Can I put new tires on the rims or do i have to buy new rims too? Heres a pick of the dirty little thing.

On your machine - the tires and wheels are one piece. There is no "rim" so to speak, and replacements are really super expensive - upwards of $750 / pc - that is if you can even find them. You can upgrade to a more modern set-up, but that kind of defeats the purpose.

But are they bolt on? Like the 4 lug on my quad?

Bad info - please disregard - my fault!
they are bolt on. The tire is vulcanized to a steel plate housed inside of it. They are 3 bolt pattern - not 4, but you can get a later model hub that is 4 bolt that should be the same splines. I think 1984 and up ATC110 should be the same and are 4 bolt pattern.

You can get a set of adapter that would adapt a later model wheel to the original hubs that are on your us90. If I can remember, I will try and post a picture later tonight of the adapters on my us90. Some people don't mind the adapters so they can ride their us90, other people have to have what was original, and they pay dearly for decent original tires. There are actual measurements of the circumference at a given pressure to let you know if the tires are any good or not. I have seen people pay big bucks for a tire that is really no good by the honda specs and they don't even realize it. If you are just going to run the honda for fun, I would say get the adapters and have fun. If you are restoring, expect to open up the wallet. Either way, have fun and welcome to the forums.

Actually the 90's from 1970 thru 1974 used a Special style splined hub. They don't inner change with anything. Your options are limited.
To use different tires you must use a set of adapters with the original hubs. Every adapter I have ever seen adapts the hubs to use the 75-78 ATC90 and the 79-82 ATC110 style 3 bolt Honda rims.

scroll to the very bottom of the page and you'll see the adapter plates. This site belongs to a member here - Mike. He is very helpful with these 90s and is an extremely knowledgable and talented trike nut.

Hey, I remember that one from ebay. I was thinking about getting it too. As for tires, you can find them on ebay a few times a month, you're looking between $70-$300 for a good condition tire. Saw a new one a few weeks ago go for $900

Depends if they are cracking and if they hold air.

can you just put the rear axle assembly complete hub to hub from a 76-80 or so atc 90 on a 1970 model? you would not need the adaptor and get the one piece axle and the 24 spline count hubs. you could put the 86-87 style 200x hubs and wheels on then for extra width and some bling.
i just got a 1970 to fix and ride but the back tires are not to happy:lol: there are about 3 patches on each one. it has a newer 3lug front wheel assembly on it.

But what can you guys tell me about the 90? Is it quick? I know that their totally rigid so i'm guessing it will probably be a ruff ride. Do you think it could pull my 200lb ice shack across the lake?
Vealmonkey

It should pull your shack in the low range, but, it won't be going very fast. You can mod them some for speed, cam, air filter, pipe, but it takes alot of skill to go fast on a rigid frame machine. You can get as crazy as you can afford to go. Unless you want to go find a stroker crank and alot of other expensive hi performance parts, you are better off with at least a 185s or larger. I've got a hopped up 110 that I hope to have some results with soon to post.
