View Full Version : 250r guru performance help...........
ok, its time i get my 86 R faster.
heres the mods
port n polish
boyseen reeds
FMF fatty pipe and silencer
its on a new piston/sleeve. stock bore
i will eventually do some mods like the 310 kit, cr ignition, somewhere down that line. but i will study this area more..
the two things im lookin at now to get faster after i eliminate my airbox.
1. What carb should i go with. and what jet size (roughly)??????????
2. what sprockets???????????
all i will be doing with this bike is basically taking it to the beach and drag racing. i wont be trail riding, or riding short track or anything like that.
thanks fella's:pics:

Search and look for a post by Dammit about his Airstryker carb.
Sprockets depend how far you race. Shorter gearing for a short sprint and tall gearing for winding it out.
You may want to look into a CR ignition for faster acceleration and maybe a better pipe then the FMF.
I would update to a RAD Valve or a Vforce reed cage, along with either PT high rev pipe or the ESR ATC5, along with a CR ignition from ESR.

If your gonna be mostly running on the beach which I'm guessing is pretty wide open you can run the 39mm PWK carb available from ESR Racing. They come prejetted and also with an assortment of main jets if you need to dial it in a little closer yourself.
Gearing, Id say something like 14/38 or 15/40 if your gonna be doing some higher speed stuff. After you work it over some more you could go a little taller to pull extra gearing like 15/38 or 15/36

38mm air stryker carbs are great.

Ronnie, why not the Vforce/Rad Valve systems?
I myself like the Rad Valve from a CR. The V Force's tend to eat reeds a little bit.

from the looks of it most people are stayin away from the airstrykers and staying with the regular 38mm pwk non-airstryker
once i figure out what carb then i'll order my bigger reed cage assembly and then the airbox eleminator kit:w00t: :w00t:
