Auto parts store Claim - Alcohol for removing Rust in tanks

Went to auto part store ask for some thing to remove rust from a gas tank and he said Alcohol ...

Would this work ?

Any thing else at a handy store ? Nail Polish remover ?

Do a search and you'll find a bunch of threads on this. Most people use muriatic acid followed by a tank sealer like Red Kote, POR15 or Kreem.

Go to a plumbing supply store and get muratic acid or liquid fire. Just be very carefull , bad stuff.

I personal used POR15. I got it off Ebay for around $25.00. It comes with a rust remover that works great.
