clutch

ok, my trike is making clanking noises when changing gears ive asked around and been told its the clutch plates, i need 6 in total ?, i can get clutch plates no problem but is that all the problem just the plates? also how easy and what would i have to do to replace these clutch plates ?????

BTW-- Its a 1983 honda 200x

I am going off the top of my head here so I may be wrong.
On the 83-85 200x's they use 5 friction disk and 4 steel plates.

Unless the clutch is slipping in higher gears I would hold off replacing them just yet. What it sounds like to me is the clutch cable is out of adjustment. Try adjusting it so it pulls a little more when it's disengaged and see if that takes care of the problem noise. It's a free easy check that could save you some money if my hunch is right. ;)
