I am collecting parts for my air cooled 250r rebuild and I am going to be modding the engine and was wondering if a good choice for a carb would be my old dirtbike one. It is off a 1995 CR250R and I believe its a PJ 38mm flatslide. Please correct me if I am wrong. Here is a pic.

Any details in using this will be very helpful. Thanks! :beer

That would be alot of carb for the air cooled engine, probably better off going with one of the old cr 250 carbs, or the 125 carbs.

Thats a great carb, but I have to agree that it may be a touch big. 36mm is ideal for your application. BUT if you've already got it, might as well give it a try!

i would not go any bigger than the 36 PJ. I was running one on mine. It did well but i kept having a leaking issue, i couldnt get it to seal for nothing. i put the stocker back on for now

Yeah, I think I may still try it next year when the engine is built. It might do alright once the porting and other mods are done but if not I will switch to the PJ 36. Thanks guys!

Alright I guess I am going to keep the carb for now for the project. If it is too big when I do get around to having the loud beast runnin then I will switch it! Thanks again!
