View Full Version : Another ATC70 question
Does these things have a rev limiter. Mine will rev about half of what it should be. it runs great it just will not rev out in any of the gears. What might be causing this. Carb was just rebuilt, new plug, new oil and new gas. when i rode it, last night i could have swore it was revving out and was pretty peppy. please help.

check that the choke isn't sticking.... my 110 used to do that and it seemed like it was "limited"... and if its like the 110's their is a screw on the thumbthrottle to adjust the throttle... check that....
the choke inst on and the throttle limiter screw is out. I am thinking that since the oil and spark plug looked twenty years old then the points are too. I think the spring might be weak causing it not to rev high. It runs great up to about 3/4 throttle and then thats all she wrote. I am going to change the points and see what happens or maybe look for an alectronic ignition kit.

The size of the carb might have alot to do with it. And the size of the rider can be a limiting factor also. If you are using the stock airbox, they can be kind of restrictive and the exhaust isn't the most free flowing in the world. If I put a lighter person on mine, it will definitely move out a little faster. Check wheel bearings. You can be surprised how much drag they can put on an engine. Check and see if your chain has enough slack. If you have a very tight chain it can be a factor. The engine is just so small that most of these things can affect performance.
