i've never heard of anyone doing it.. but with enough hammering, cutting, and welding, i'd imagine it could be done..... i'm no expert but i've heard of alot of 350x frame cracking incidents... so i would definitely look into putting major bracing on the frame before riding it.... then again i could be completely wrong.... oh well :)

Its a lot of work. Frame needs to be extended. PM Billy on here, he did it and sold it.

What about the XR/L frame with a modded swingarm & triples? I've got an '81 XL500S I'd like to try it on! Or is a dirtbike frame out of the question?

Wouldn't the bike frame be a bit too tall for a trike mate??

Dirt bike frames make good conversions. They are a little tall but that can be fixed.:Bounce http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=51730

My 500 was(Needs top end work) fast as hell, at the time, also did GREAT on the tight twisties where I ride. You gotta love that 23" front tire! I'd love to make a trike outta her WITH the 2wheeler frame, but I need to get the motor done 1st.

hey, if everything is honda it's a lot easier to switch the frame. It's not the bike frame that's tall, just the suspension and tires.

I had a 79' XR500. I rebuilt the top end. It was an extremely strong running motor. That would make a wicked runnin trike.

Yeah, HI. That's a 2 stroke motor in that frame there, we're discussing the possibility of an XL/XR motor in a 350X frame. WTF??? How's that figuring in this thread? Nice T# though................

you can actually bolt an ascot 500 top end(cylinder and head) on a 350x bottom i think according to an old flat tracker i met last summer, there was a little bit of customizing to make it work, but i dont think it was anything crazy.. it ended up being like a 420 or something...obvioulsy you have to stroke the crank....

You did ask how a dirt bike frame would work! This just shows that it can be worth using one.Saves a lot on frame fabrication and you end up with something that fits.:Bounce

your bike is nice but i see more bike abortions then anything else. most look like crap and handle even worse. like this

I used the top half of a 350x frame & the botton of the bike frame. That let me use 350x tank & fender's. I have robbed almost all the parts from mine. Tripple's, axle, swingarm. I have all the stuff here to put It back together when I get some time. The front 350x frame tube slid right Into the lower bike frame tube & the lower rear sub frame fell Into place nice also. The only problem with using the bike lower section was no lower frame rail's for foot peg's, cause the bike peg's are back to far. I was gunna put the 350x lower section on somehow, to re locate the foot peg's. To busy now to mess with the 4 stroker.
