I have a YTM-200, and i bought it from some guy who tried to fix everything with duct tape. So im going back and actually fixing the broken parts, and i came across a cable that i have no clue what it does. It goes from the carb area to the back left of the trike. It looks like a brake cable, but when i pull it, it shuts off the engine. This is also the only way i know of shutting off the engine. Can anyone please tell me what this cable is for and why it is there?
Thanks

Maybe at one time it was hooked up to the controls on the handlebars. It sounds like it would be your kill switch.

:D Hey fareed, Welcome to the board! :D Don't know diddly-squat about YTM-200, but............ :? is cable connected at back left side of trike, or just stuck there out of the way? How about at carb? Connected? Sounds like choke cable, if attached at carb and not at rear of trike (probably supposed to go to handlebars somewhere).
My .02,
Al

Thanks for your replies.
I went and looked at it, and i was mistaken, it doenst go to the carb. Sorry. It actually goes to the cylinder above the exaust pipe. There is a little device it attaches to there. Also, the plastic exterior part of the cable is held by a metal peice, and this peice causes the cable to go towards the rear of the bike, so if it was to go to the handlebars, it would have to turn 180 degrees, so that is unlikely. At the rear of the bike, it isnt permanetly attached, just a wire tie is holding it to the frame. There is nothing at the rear end of the cable, just a small cylinder that the inside part of the cable goes through. This cylinder looks identical to the one on the handle end of the brake cable. It isnt the choke because I already have a choke cable on the handlebars. Any ideas? It is also a mid 80s model if that helps any.
Thanks again,
Fareed

maybe it is/was a "tether kill switch" for either the rider or a parent letting a kid ride it.???? doe's it kill the ignition when pulled?

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, Thanks. It apparenty doesnt go in the back of the bike, any idea where it should be?
Also, does anyone know how to turn of the bike if not using this cable, or can the cable be used for this?
thanks

I o't knwabout the ytm200 either, but check around your starter, it most likely hook up there to have an automatic decompression for starting. To shut your bike off you shouldhave a kill switch, there will be a wire conected to your coil that grounds it out and shuts it down.
