Alright i just found a 83 250r basket case around my house and im pretty sure i can get it for between 100-150. The only problem is i think it may need a new cylinder due to the depth of the cuts in the cylinder wall (said they blew a piston out of it). Also the crank bearings are a little iffy and seem to hang up so im thinking those should be replaced.

My questions
1. Is it worth the Price
2. Are the cranks pressed together if not how do you replace the rod bearing
3. How much is a jug used go for
4. With the motor in this condition is it cheaper to just buy a used air cooled motor for it?

thanks jake

1.If it is complete it is worth it.
2.Yes they are pressed.
3.Check ebay, you can get them pretty easy for under $100.
4.I cant answer this well but I would redo your engine then you know what you have and the bearings might sieze in a different engine a little ways down the road.

if its apart always rebuild the full motor. people tend to throw open engines in a box and then dust and dirt get into the bottem ends screwing up bearings. get all new seals too but i would slipt the motor and clean everything before you would build it back up.

thats what i do.
