tiger went belly up with the end of the trikes, plus i think they didnt have permission to use the rotax motor or something like that. what a shame, they were awesome bikes. i think the sticker on front of the neck states it all...no warranties, sold as is, and whatever happened to the bike regardless, it was your responsibility to fix it. awesome ride you have there Mohawk, real peice of history, if i was you i would restore it to newish and hold on to it. you should get in contact with erectordale, he has a few different tigers and is full of knowledge on them. again, you are lucky!!!!! awesome bike. if you do get rid of it, what would your asking price be, i am very interested in this bike.

Nice find!! Looks like tecate rear tires, Tigers had the same bolt pattern as early tecates. Is it water cooled? Not familer with the 125s but your cylinder has air cooled fins. Also What kind of rear shock is on it? I would love to have a 125, Good Luck with this project. Can't wait to see more.

What makes these so rare? I know there was few made but im sure there was other trikes out there that didnt get into mass production like the tigers? IMO they look cheap. I bet i could snap one in half long before my X. And that wheel base is tiny!. But very nice tiger. I just never really got why they were so saught after.

I like the frames of these Tigers. So minimalistic in design but so effective. No wonder it weighs so little, its only bare bones. I'd love to find a 250 in decent shape. Maybe I'll build my own frame some day.

Any Tiger is a great find and that one sure is......looks to me like a tiger 200 with a 125cc can am motor in it.....anyone else??
oldskool83
11-08-2006, 07:19 PM
i agree i dont belive that is the original motor. if you look at the pics of the motor you took your missing engine mounts where the frame motor mounts are. somthing is out of place but then again thats history with a rare race machine.
i looks like your radiator hose is going back into the front of the engine. from what water cooling info i know every other water cooled bikes atv or trike one goes into the head and one comes out near the bottem end. does anyone else see it coming directly out of the rad and then entering somwhere around the exhaust pipe? the pics are to dark to see if it really goes into the motor.

i just did some looking at tiger 200's and that is not the stock engine, its air cooled, on this site there are some pics of a few tiger 200's and this is a tiger 200 with a 125 air cooled motor in it.
darrel632
11-08-2006, 07:32 PM
not a can-am motor it would have bombarier on the side, but it doesn't look llike the armstrong rotax 125 waterjacket in my shop, those air fins don't look like a watercool rotax unless its a 75 or 76 head from the original T'nT series dirt bikes, but I'm not any sort of tiger expert I'd like to hear "dale" chime in.
Don't really care nice trike

11-08-2006, 07:41 PM
Nice machine. I thought the 125's just had a water cooled head, but the cyclinder was air cooled. Also thought the 125's were red and white instead of blue and white, but its hard to say what Tiger changed or what people changed after.

I don't think it's that some folks don't get it, it's simply his opinion based on what is seen. I've been riding trikes for 21 years and I knew nothing and still know very little about the "Tigers". Yep, they are rare, fast and light but to look at it - I too think they look cheap. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone as I'm sure that they are wonderful and rare and all that good stuff. But simply in terms of the visual aspect, to me it seems to be lacking the smooth looks and lines of a 250R or other ATC or that era.
That motor might be unbelievable, handling superb and suspension super absorbing, but put it side by side (not racing of course) and it just doesn't seem nearly as nice as a TriZ, Tecate or a 250R.
However, I would like to say - AWESOME FIND!!!!! Just being as rare as it is and in that good of condition is incredible. I'd EBAY that puppy for a 10 day auction.

so, wanna hear my theory? i believe they used the same chassi for the 125, 200, 250. makes perfect sense as they were a small company, watching costs. and if you compare all the tigers shown on the home page, the rolling chassis all look identical. they just used different motors to try and cover all the competition classes of the day.
even the well known companies practiced this on so many of their models and still do today , to save costs.
That ones not theory thats fact
except for the rear shock on the 250 had the resevoir

The 250 and 500 fenders I have seen were/are PVC ....some people who have had the true 200 had fiberglass rears.....once again I dont know if that was model related or time of production related. The 500 had a different frame to put that beast of a motor in it

your motor is a Cam-Am 125cc L/C 1983 or 1984 that is water cooled, i was wrong. here are some pics, best i could find. i saved these 3 years ago. if you look on ebay you will find some NOS tiger stuff and NOS Cam-Am parts. someone said earlier that cam-ams motors didnt have rotax on the case but they did from about 1981-1987 when they were not made anymore.

If i didnt get it I wouldnt own 2 trikes! I just dont know anything about the tigers since theres practically no info on them, and only a couple members have them on here. Im not going to deny I would love to have that thing just to have, but I dont plan on paying alot for something I wouldnt ride. BUT if i had the cash and i was a serious ATC collector i would certainly get one if i had the chance. I mainly just get them to restore and have some fun on.. But if a good deal comes up I cant refuse.
I was wondering, how much did you actually pay for that if you dont mind me asking?

Nice find there! Chassis looks very similar to my 200. I have a 200 with a 250 top end. My rear fenders are fiberglass. My pipe looks almost the same, maybe the same as that one. If you are going to offer it for sale, I'm sure there are a few guys here that would love to have a shot at it. Someone here will give it a good home. Would be nice to see it go to a collector. Ole Skool, good work identifying the motor!

My 200 has PVC rear fender and I was told by the original Owner/Dealer/Racer (Mac Moore) that the 200 was a desleeved 250. Thats really starting to look nice, anyone notice the front hub looks aluminum and I know mine is steel and some others are also. The frames are light because they are made out of chromoly (sp)and I have to agree thay are ugly but that makes them unique and why i like mine.

Now that Drool Fest '06 is over... Put it on e-bay!
By the way, don't do to much to the trike. Clean it and move it. One persons idea of "touching up paint and fixing things" is another persons nightmare. Give it to me original and dirty, I'll take it from there.

ive considered ebay, but to be honest ive got some pretty darn good offers privately on these boards so far. one of them i almost cant refuse. problem is, they are all trades. and although i freight machines and motors all over the country, it might be kinda a hassle to do the "who gets what machine first" game.
All the more reason to put it on e-bay. Any offer made to you, from people on the board, will make the same offer when it goes on e-bay. It might even get sweeter on e-bay with a dozen people in a bid war for it. Another thing with e-bay it its for money, not someone elses junk. With money you can ALLWAYS buy what ever you want.:naughty:

Was the Tiger 125 a "red frame" or "blue frame" atv? I am no Tiger expert buuuut, looking in the picture and info section here there is a Tiger 125 with a red frame and no lower engine mount flange welded to the frame. Can anyone verify that "Tiger Mfg." used the blue frame with the lower engine mount flange used on the 200 and 250cc atv's for the one of the rarest, Tiger 125's? Any Tiger guroos please chime in!

i had a tiger 125, 200 and 250 parts.
the 125 was an orangeish red frame and seat, with white fenders and tank.
125 also did use different motor mount points.
Also front forks were different than the 200, 250. the 125 had a different mount plate for the front caliper.
125 was water cooled head and cylinder. But it did also have cooling fins.
88 turbo coupe you actually drove out to long island to see the 125 i had a few years ago.
orange county bought my 200. with a nos pipe and nice fender!
3 tigers has by far the most original and cleanest tiger 125, 250?,and super-4 that i know of.
more info.
200's had blue frame tank and seat. rear shock had no resevior on the shock.
250's had blue frame, tank. red seat and a resevior shock.
most had telephone cord kill switches.
all had grimeca brakes (still avaliable)
magura controls.
all pipes were custom made for tigers by an outside company. , but used a few different silencer designs.

the fact of the matter is that 3tigers made a huge mistake. he should have talked mohawk's machine up, let it sell then post his and let it ride on the buzz surrounding mohawk's machine. bascically he got jealous and ruined things for both of them. it doesn't really surprise me though, that seems to be the trend with many people that belong to this site, and now is the time for Dr. Death.

WOW, I thought some tigers in our 3 wheeling family would bring us all closer, our 3 wheeling family would have relitave trikes from everywhere. With the more tigers and stuff coming up we would all be happy, and look at what it is doing to out family:( I just cant belive the contreversy of one person getting a tiger, trying to sell it on ebay and get it signed by Peter Wood. Im not dissing anybody, I just cant belive what is going on.
You got love the spirit of debat. Voice your opinion. No wall flower here.

no I haven't riden it. Mohawk was putting on a new clutch at the time. so I cant report on how fast or nice it rides. but no matter how fast or nice it is, its worth having just because of what it is.

That seriously would be a shame if someone rode it like a honda. :( I think if i was selling it, and some little rich daddys boy offered me 8000, but a serious collector offered my 6000, i would take the 6k just for the fact that i know it wont get trashed!

What a joke! After all of this for a Tiger, I think I'll buy another Honda. Hey, Do you think the jersey artwork will cancel too. I wouldn't give you 2 cents for it now. What a history lesson. LOL

like everyone didnt know he was going to cancel his auction.i said he would the day he posted it.
i had zero intention of cancelling mine until he listed his, and i met peter wood.
i also cancelled mine for reasons i cant go into publically.
lets just say the tiger is in the proccess of being partially torn down for historical purposes. after being viewed by peter wood, i found out a few things that i will not discuss, ill leave it at that.
but the jersey artwork is there to stay.
and turbo, since you pmed me i was starting to think you were one of the ok guys here.
i must have been mistaken. im rather surprised to be honest.
apparently another member that doesnt remember when and why all of this started.
but any-who, im not wasting any time arguing the point. i really have other things to do , and im about to enjoy another good movie with the younguns.
happy thanksgiving
