She Won't Run????

Hey,

my YTM175 is all ready to go, but won't run properly. I can only get it to fire with some gas in the cylinder. I should mention that I replaced the choke- is there anything I should check in regards to the plunger on the choke (specific setting??). I also thought maybe the timing is out, but it was running a few days back.

Ideas???

if i were you id take the carb completely apart and clean it... it sounds more like a feul starvation problem... now when you dump a bit of gas into the cylinder does it stay running after that or does it just fire then die... if it fires then dies then it sounds like it isnt getting any feul.... getting any feul....i had a blaster do the same exact thing took the carb completely apart and found it had some sludge in her and when i through the carb back on it ran perfect...also something as simple as a bit of dirt in the tank clogging the fuel valve could do it also... sounds to me like fuel starvation...

It will run for about 6 seconds and die. I thought the starvation of fuel as well, but it seems to be flooding also- fuel dripping from the exhaust outlet. I think you're right about cleaning the carb- maybe some junk caught in there.

yeah id say take the carb off dude and take it completely apart and clean every little jet ... dont just spray it with carb clean and call it done take every jet out and clean it real good....the running for 6 seconds is just the fuel you dumped intot he cylinder burning up... it def not getting any fuel...
