I'm looking into doing my 300r big bore cylinder in nikasil. Also will have custom pistons made. Anyone interested let me know. Weisco will forge the pistons. They have a minimun run of 8 pistons for $1000. Calling tomorrow about the nikasil deal.
After hours and hours of research, and no matter what anyone says or said. THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PISTONS MADE BY ANY MAUFACTURER IN THIS COUNTRY. The watercraft piston will only work if you cut the head and cylinder. And i'm not gunna do that. I have 5 big bore engines and no replacement pistons. Thats BS!
I'm going ahead with this. Anyone interested, let me know.

would this include rings? If not do they make rings for the pistons? What price are you looking to get out of the pistons when they are done? You will be paying around $125 a piece if i figured it right and im sure you want to make a little bit on these. Id probablly be interested in one. :w00t:

I'm not looking to make any real money on these. Just looking to get the best deal on the pistons.

maybe unlike the last "300r piston" thread someone started, you can actually give us a price. I would tell everyone probablly $150 or so (totally up to you of course) and then take deposits. If you have a set price, or even a price within $25 or so then im sure several people would be interested and would send you deposits.

Not a bad deal but you got to lay out the money first.

I don't know so I'm asking, but what is wrong with using the big bore TRX/ATC pistons? piston-pin location? Wiseco makes big bore pistons in both the short rod and long rod type...

The timimg edge is where the problem is.

I'm not familiar with that term? I know you can run the stock air cooled piston in the later water cooled Rs...

I dont know about that. What I did was to use the measurements from my piston and checked what Weiscos' and ProXs' spec sheets listed to look for a match. I didn't look for application just measurements.

:TrikesOwn :TrikesOwn So what is the difference if you get the mod to the cylinder and use the watercraft piston. Or have the piston made for the big bore.P.S. You only have to cut the cylinder not the head.

basically the port timing will be all messed up with the wrong piston, said simply, it won't run right. You need the correct piston and timing for it to run right, when you go to a stroker crank, you need to have your porting re-done to have the port timing correct. Most engine builders will tell you this.

Weisco has my deposit. The piston kit is $225. Complete with pin, clips and rings. Approx. 3-4 week wait. Nikasil 2 cylinders @200 each. 2 weeks.

BTW: I will be keeping the minimum order of 8 pistons for myself. There is a discount over 12 pistons. Order now or order 8 for yourself.
