Teacte KX500 Conversion Question

If you were inclined to do a 500 swap to the 86/87 Tecate what year KX500 motor is recomended ?

i know bgm is doing one with the 85 frame and like an 89 motor, but he has to cut and fabricate so his motor will fit. you thinking of making the new 87 you got into a 500?

I was thinking about it if its bolt in as i dont want to start cutting and welding the frame,i did hear its bolt in but you never know.

Its not completely bolt in. As far as I have read you need to notch the frame about the spark plug to clear the plug itself, fabricate new motor mounts and some other lil things. The pipe fits without too much trouble as well I do believe.

Search over on 3wheeler.org for KXT500 and you should find a thread with pics from a fella that did the swap. Not bolt in but hella close, a ton easier then my swap.
