what are yall using for oil?
i have been using R50 forever.
i am interested in royal purple ,but have never used it and it is only mail order were i am at.
who is with me on the R50?
and what are the rest of you using.
I use Super Techniplate, but have used R50 before as well. I feel it is one of the best synthetic oils out there.
Dammit!

I run R50 as well...I have no probs and i love the smell...:)
Maxima 927.Smells the same as the R-50 if i remember right. The Maxima is a lot more expensive though. You pay 6-7 bucks for just 1- 16 oz bottle.I think the Klotz is like 6 bucks for a quart???I see a lot of people running Klotz with no problems.I thought about switching to super techniplate, but have not done it yet.I guess when something works good, leave it alone. One thing about the Maxima oils,is they seperate if they sit below 32 degrees. You have to shake your can up before you use it when cold.

yes.. moshman! klotz stays suspended in the gas!
synthetic oils are great for gas. They lubricate better for a longer lasting topend, crank, and main bearings.
for methanol, caster bean oil is preferred because it stays suspended in the oil better.

i was talking abotu 2 stroke mix oil.
not 4 stroke engine oil.
allthough they say that r50 can be used as crank case oil. i am not going to use it it cost to much. honestly in my 250r transmission i use delo 400 sae 40 diesel engine oil. i change it so often i hate to use that expensive motorcycle gear oil.
and what is the deal with that motorcycle tranny oil,it says 80weight but it is as thin as mtor oil. i have been using delo in the box for years with no problems because of it. i use it in everything . i use the 14/40 in all the engines i own and 40 in the bikes gear box. i have used Klots gear oil a few times but i swamp so hard i have to drain it anyway. i mud that R like a 110.

It can. That's all my R ever had in the bottom end for the first 10 years of it's life. If I wasn't such a broke mofo I'd still be using it.
