Seem to have blown mine after re-jetting it richer. Its leaking oil pretty badly.
I wanted to take it on a trip this Sunday, and getting a base gasket by then isn't going to be easy. Can I just RTV the crap out of it and will it hold? It does have a high compression piston in it though.
Let me know what you guy think.
Also, Anyone have torque specs for the head off hand?

I would stay way from the RTV.
Go the the auto parts store and get a roll of gasket paper. Take apart your top end and trace a new gasket on the paper with your old one. Cut out and instail.

Thank you both, I think the gasket cut out idea should work fine.

In a pinch ,someone can get through anything!! I would order up a new gasket set,and take her apart and make a gasket to get through the weekend, and then as much as it sucks ,take it apart and do it proper next weekend ,If you really wanna ride!!!

where you at in WI man? any how to fix a head gasket on the cheap. get your self one of those tin pans one would cook a turkey in, and cut it out the same as your gasket. that will get you by. and it works good to.

haha thanks, but it was the base gasket, the head was fine.
Just a little update, I did use some Ace High Temp gasket roll stuff and cut out a new gasket (couldn't even trace the old one, too torn up!) and it has been holding great so far. Only took 6 hours or so to pull the motor, tear it down, and throw it back in :)
BTW, I'm in Mukwonago

I don't think a high comp. piston would effect a base gasket. Maybe make sure the crank case tubes are clear and not building up pressure?

When I was taking it apart, I found out that a few of the nuts for the head were loose right over the top of the part where the base gasket blew out. I will check those though, and see how they look.
This work was done by a performance shop and most of hte head bolts/nuts came loose!
Good thing for Loctite
