i have a 1985 250r that i love.

i just came across a 84 air cooled one for 650

im going to look at it tomarrow

is it slower then the 85?
what are the down sides to this one?

yes it is slower but not by as much as one would think if both are in top form.

downside, parts are starting to get hard to find, mainly on the chassis. you can still get all the motor parts pretty easily.

upside, extreme ease of maintnence(sp), everything on the trike is opened up a bit more than the 85's. I personally like the 83-4R's over the 85's, they sound different, they have a lot of raw grunt torque that I cant get enough of and if you take your time and build one wisely they can be just as much fun to ride as the 85's

i have both 85 and 83..my friend used to own the 85 and back then i beat him on a track with my 83, mine was stock and his had a fmf fatty on it, we are pretty much the same riders.
i only bought his because well its another 250r and with thte parts i have now, the air cooled would over heat in 5 minutes

You should buy it if its in decent shape!!!!!!!
