Meat, I won't sell mine but I'll lend it to someone that can make fiberglass/plastic copies. Its not in perfect shape but it is a UFO JWR style plate that everyone wants.

that would be awesome big green. you would definately make some more friends on here i think. as far as finding one as of yet, good luck, they are like a virgin in a ho house, few far and in between. and if some one did have one, they'd probably wouldnt let it go. i have been searching for one for sometime now, and i have only seen a few on here, and no one wants to part with them. i have even offered 150 bucks for one.

Yup, so whoever wants one find me a fiberglass guy and raise the funds to have the plates made. Cash up front! No strokers...

I would do them no problem just need something to copy from(sample returned of course) and from what i have been told Maier will sell you small amount of material to do the job yourself(3 Leggeddog spoke to them) so i need a sqaure of coloured material approx 450mm x 450mm and were in business.

Dammit had one of these plates in red on his 200X and it was by far the best looking plate I've seen on those.

Guys, I'm looking for more then just wants. You want a plate then start the research on the Maier plastic sheets in red and green. Find out a total and start sending Aussie dough to buy it. Then I'll be happy to ship him my plate.

PLate is 300mm by 400mm by 100mm.

That will fit my vac table no problem..so all i need is the original plate for couple of weeks to make the mold and someone to see Maier about buying some 450mm x 450mm green plastic sheets and the project can begin.
I picked up my 87 Tecate today so im VERY motivated to get this rolling !

aussi... I have a 2nd plate just like on my 87 T3 that you saw at TF, its just waiting on me finishing my 86. I am leaning towards a headlight on it for now. I can box it up w/ a spare headlight plastic I have here if you are interested. I know that 84/85 is wider than the 86/87 plate, w/ the 86/87 you might be able to cut the mold and make it wider for 84/85. Id be interested in a lime airbox cover if you are willing to make them, I got a spare of that as well.

LET ME KNOW

Mik6's MAIER number plate in my opinion is better shaped than the UFO Plate. Go with the MAIER mold in my opinion, Nevertheless I want 2 in green!

Would the UFO one have "UFO" imprinted in the numberlpate?? OR is it a sticker?

Tecate250
10-28-2006, 06:00 PM
Mik6's # plate is sweet but it blocks the passageway under the rad.
It seems like the old tecate has huge heat venting on its design.
Is there a way to bolt up a head light on a modified plate?
Not that I have lights now...

scooterroo
10-28-2006, 10:00 PM
do like i am gonna do and run some lazerstar lights of the triple bolts. one on each side, is gonna look sweet and be bright as hell.

Anyone know of lights that you can use on a tecate without a voltage regulator?
I like the baja lights on 2 honda trike in here somewhere. Nice and huge, and probably bright too

scooterroo
10-31-2006, 05:45 PM
you have to regulate the voltage or they will pop one after another.

Looking real good Aussie. Looks sweet. Its so cool that you can do this kind of work. I know you are being bombarded with questions but I have a good question. Is it possible to make a mold of the Air Box lid with vents in it or holes for ventilation? I remember vented Air Box lids from back in the day that had foam on the inside to catch any dirt. I guess it was a way for the racers to get a bit more power out of their rides. If you can do that, or if you would like to make some lids for the 84-85 Tecate let me know and I will send you my lid to copy. I dont need a lid but I will buy one to support your good work.
I am looking into the cost of plastic for the # plate and if I can get some Green Plastic I will send it to you for a # plate and green lid.
Does anyone know of a picture of a vented Air Box lid for any trike to copy the style? Probably see one on an old flat tracker pic.:w00t:

meatbox all you have to do is drill a 1'' hole in it and pop some uni vents in it.
They have foam in them that can be removed and re oiled! Just like i do on my Z airboxes..:beer

I talked to a lady at Maier and she said that they come in 4'x4' sheets 1/8" or 3/16" thick. The cost she said is $31.28 for a sheet of 1/8". She said they like to cut them into 2'x2' sheets for shipping purposes, so we need a definate safe size from Aussie to send him. She didnt know Millimeters so she is going to E-Mail me their plastic sheet brochure and I can figure it all out. When I get the E-Mail I will post the Brochure for all to see. Then you can pick any color you want and make Aussie stay up late making long lost goodies for our Trikes:w00t: :beer

Can someone break down the MM size Aussie posted into inches?
450mm x 450mm =?

Thanks Bryan, I like that Plan. I got my eye on that 85 Tri-Z in my friends fathers Barn. Been sitting there for the last 10 years at least. It all there and looks pretty good. Minus all of the dirt and dust from the Horse barn. I hope to get her for around $300-$500. I need her to hit up her old man before I go insane and just ask him. I've been waiting 2 months for her to ask. I want that Tri-Z bad.:naughty:

FreakinA! Aussie, I really think you should work on making some headlight replacment molds. I know you can't make them perfect as OEm, but if you start with maier headlight shells we can have any color we want! hehe!.

I almost garentee it would be easy to make some 350x headlight molds.

Here is mine with a vented lid. Not sure who built the airbox lid.
JP racing had some cool aluminum ones back in the day but it would probably be really really hard to find one nowadays.
