You got a CR 250R given to you for free?!?!? How did you manage that? I think it would be cool to convert a CR dirtbike into a trike, I mean, they have awsome power and suspension. What else do you need??

do you have the whole cr bike? all you really need is a swing arm, axel, the thing that holds the axel, cant think of it, wheels, and tires, and some other misc. parts. the other route, it is a whole rolling chassis, and you basically have a 250r with a different engine. if you convert it, you have this cool, one of a kind trike.

true
question is will a atc R swing arm fit my CR frame
what about triples and stuff for the front end
hubs, axle, barring carrier, tires, rims
the CR sets up high
so will it set as high as it is now when its turned into a trike
taller than a atc R

thats true, still tho, it would be awesome to have the stock cr tire on there, or you could get a smaller rim and tire. if you want it to be a threewheeler, go the the 3w triple tees

Sounds great! But I'll bet just about none of it's gonna be easy or fit. Lots of custom crap here. Not for the backyard mechanic. Sell the motors and get something with proper rake and trail so it'll handle like it was intended.
Who wants to ride a CR250 ill handling death trike?

The VIN should be on the head tube just like they are on the trikes.
Your best bet would be to get a 85 or 86 250R trike rolling chassis, you know one that some racer pulled the engine out of to put in a quad, they are usually very cheap.
That way you have all the parts you would need and would be able to see if they can be made to fit on the CR frame. I imagine you would at least need to modify the swingarm mounts for the ATC swingarm to fit. but if all that is beyond your means, go with putting the CR engine in the trike frame which would be the easy way out. You would still have a bad ass trike. Is the CR you have powervalved? How does it run now?
One thing to remember, the stock CR engine doesn't have a stator capable of running lights if that is a concern.

Does he mean VIN on the engine? I think its near the sprocket under dirt?

i got it now
thank ya
its an 86 model (thanks again Billy)
so i can put the CR motor in the 85/86 atc R frame
modify plastics for the kicker and what else i have to do to it to get everythin to clear kicker

The CR 250 & 500 do not have a counterbalance in the engine. I rode a 250R with the Cr 250 conversion at an ice race this past winter and it damn near shook me off the foot pegs.
