Dad is in Indianapolis for a year working. He called a guy about a 86 tri z for sale there. He's meeting with him tommarrow wednesday at 6. The guy said that he has only owned it for 6 months. He said a company called Crim, Crem, Krem, Krim? Racing used to own it. It has an aftermarket suspension of some sort, and it has brand new tires and rims. I have no clue who that company was, or even how to spell it so if you know anything please fill me in. Dad is taking pics for me tommarrow and I'll post them as soon as I get them. He is asking $1650 obo.
Dammit!

Well I just got done reading a 5 page thread about Klemm Research, and The Tri Z 350. Boy oh boy do I hope it's Klemm... I suppose they made all sorts of stuff, pipes, gas tanks, ect. I guess I'll find out if it's a winner after 6 o'clock tommarrow!

Called Dad this afternoon to tell him to find out more background info on the bike. More than likely I'll be picking it up, even if it wasnt owned by Klemm. But I'll definately get it if it was. I told him about Klemm and how they were a big company back when and had good racing parts. He is going to play dumb with the guy and try to talk him down to 1500. I'm having him take pictures of a front, back, and side views of the bike, and all of the aftermarket parts on it, so you guys can help me figure out what they are. Fingers are crossed.

definitely worth the money.. but i don't think its a klemm bike.... go for it.. looks like a good bike... must have some power due to that wheelie bar.... i'd buy it if i was close....

On the rear plastics it says Clem racing.... Man... I'm still going to get it. Good deal on a nice Z. Only thing is that the plastics were painted black... Dad said the paint job isnt to good so I'll sand them down real good and repaint. Anyone know what rear shock is? And do you notice anything else that isn't stock? Sorry to get ya'lls hopes up. hehe Oh yea its got a set of spare tires and rims that are like new!

Looks like a plain old 85 1/2 tri z... sorry,, They spelled KLEMM Wrong! LOL
still a solid bike and most of the parts are there.. if and when you get it make shure you get a another lock nut for the axel, That could be a verry bad ride if that comes loose! not to mention it will ruin that hub..

10-18-2006, 09:23 PM
85 or 86 the ad said it was an 86... 86's are 6 speeds correct? Well sorry to get everyones hopes up... People need to learn how to spell . lol

well its got 85 forks and the 85 1/2 front hub so I would say most positive it's a 85 1/2. it might have a 86 bottom end or complete motor, depends whats stamped on the motor case..

Chances are that if it spends enough time in the air to need that wheelie bar, you arent far from having engine problems. Wet sump motors arent made to run on their end like that. Looks pretty ragged out to me, but that is just my $.02.

Looks like a 85 1/2 to me too. No coolant bottle visible in front of the fender on the shift side.
Honestly, I wouldn't pay anywhere near $1650 for that. It doesn't look to be in much better shape than mine was when I got it for $700 and mine is an 86. If it runs strong that's still no more than a $1000 trike imo and even that is really pushing it.
That's just my two cents and keep in mind I'm really, really cheap.

I'm gonna leave this one for someone else... I'd rather spend more money on something that I know that I'll be happy with. Going to be watching ebay for a while and hopefully will get an R,

Nope, That's a CLEM wheelie bar! As in a guy named Clem made it. Same guy that painted the plastics with them still on the bike. I'd steer clear for that kind of money.

$1300 is way too much for that bike.

I'd give $700 at the max, maybe

Well I'm looking on ebay, craigslist, and an Indiannapolis trading post every day. I am looking for something nice, I would rather have a dirty bike with a good motor than a clean bike with a bad motor.... If ya'll see one that has a good buy it now price that is reasonbly close....
