View Full Version : 1DR racing G3 reed cage?

anybody ever heard or used these reeds and cages? whats your opinions. looking to maybe get one for my kxt, even though they dont have them for the kxt, they do have them for the kx 250 , 82-?, and seeing is how the kx cylinder is so close to the kxt cylinder, the reed cages should work....right?

Go for it! Use the KX500 reed cage if you want, might see some extra flow.

They carry cages for the Z too. Im interested.

This place has intakes for th Tri-Z? Interesting! Last company to make some was Duncan racing many many years ago.

so has anyone bought any of them yet?

For those of you who don't recall that "exhilaration", here is an example of comparative Flow Bench testing for a 250cc;
G3 Power Gurve Reed Assembly 71.40 CFM
Boysen Rad Valve 250cc 64.68 CFM
Honda CR/TRX/ATC25OR 6-petal 54.60 CFM
FMF 250cc & Suzuki RM250 1987-89 6-petal 53.26 CFM
V-Force 53.00 CFM*
Pyramid 51.00 CFM*
Yamaha YZ250 1989 6 petal 50.40 CFM

(All tests were performed in house and *calculated at 10 inches of water pressure and room ambient temperatures, to best simulate atmospheric conditions).


I was more interested in the ones for the 250r atc.

For $185 I know that I would pass... Kawasakis have huge reeds anyways and I have heard alot of negative things about these. They are the same thing as the old mossbarger reeds.

I just dont see how a flow bench would be a useful test for a reed valve.. reeds dont operate under constant pressure... IMO whatever unit has the softest petals will flow the most on the bench... soft petals= Low rpms..... a Dyno test would actually tell usefull information... I have always felt that this was a deceptive marketing technique. Notice how it doesnt show what application of G3 reeds was used in the test? Or what application rad valve or v-force was tested? That test is a joke..

It also shows v force but it does not say if they were 2's or 3's

That scum bag Will offered me a discount if I prepaid. He was going to have them ready in like 45 days. I called and called and called. Kept giving me excuse after excuse. Never sent it out. Look at the 250r reeds ALL out of stock. Arogent POS for sure.

CR480R got it right. Stock KX reeds are plenty and Vforce would be the only way I'd go different.
