S.Steel brake lines

Looks very interesting, but I think I will just stick with the one I got off ebay new for 25$ shipped. Nothing against what you did, but like stated, i wouldnt trust myself when it comes to my life haha.

i think they look sweet. have you tested them to see what kind of pressure they will take? if there strong and hold up ill take a blue set for my 250R

Didn`t intend to make them for anyone , only show what could be done and to round up parts. As far as being strong I am using commercial S.Steel brake line at $8/ft and the original line ends with silver soldered brass or berillum copper ferrules crimped in a press at about 15 tons. i would TRUST IT !!!! check out the "cut" off blade in the (3) jaw chuck .....

Here are a few photos of the crimper . It worked out that two holes,one relieved on the edges , made the smoothest crimp.Use the relieved hole to start and finish with the full crimp hole. Here are the dimensions for the copper ferrule and crimper .The factory crimp was crimped .050in (.025 per side) . The dimensions of the ferrule and crimper work out to give .050 crimp on a beryllium copper ferrule, should work the same for brass. As a machinist and fabricator myself, I think your setup is pretty sweet. Half the fun is getting it just the way you want it!!

Where do you buy that brake line material and also the ferrule and what size is the ferrule.

Only thing is most lines are just under 3 feet so 24$ just for the inside line seems expensive. Then I need the ends so I'd have to buy crappy lines and rape them.

Still pretty slick though.

I am sure that you can find it cheaper somewhere ,but A-1 Coupling & Hose in Eugene Oregon (541-485-7133) is the only place i`ve found that has bulk S.Steel brake line .The ferrules are just scrap copper or brass that I turn down to .575in x1.25in long .I just use the old brake line and cut the fittings off,you can make them in a pinch if you need to.:Bounce

Thanks again, was able to order brake line from Amazon Hose (Tampa store) for $3.18/ft + shipping .Worked out to $3.60/ft delivered,better then $8.25/ft :Bounce

Nice idea , Here is what I did to make up a custom line. Russell makes chrome fittings that thread into a SS line that is plastic coated. The lines already have the ends crimped on and are avaliable in many lengths. Just order the ends you need and the length of the line and you are done. Akso you can get fittings to add in a brake switch if you like.

the simplest way may be to go on line at Rit Dye and order what you want . I got mine on line and at a Bi-mart store . It may be at a Target, fabric , or other large chain store. :Bounce
