Ok - Yamaha did some funky stuff with their CC coding and bike "NAMING" procedures-----They rounded everything off to the nearest COOL sounding Number------You definitely have a ytm 225 DX

Ok, thats really weird it has a 196cc cylinder.
Im pretty sure the whole motor would interchange if you switch the middle drive gear components, thats what im assuming was done. Id like to see some pics thouhg.:beer

196 is also typed on the ID label??????

Is a ytm200 -"HAULER" shaft drive also?

Hey Cory....Where did ya get that # table? ....My haynes manual has nothing like that!!!!!!

Yamahauler
10-14-2006, 09:08 PM
It was in my Clymer manual.
The 200cc Yamahauler is a shaftie. There is also a 200cc chain driven.

Im assuming the engine was changed with a 200...PICS!!!

thanks for the quick reply
no it says 196cm3 on the label

Why would 196cc be on the LABEL if the Vin is a 225?

I cant come up with anything being changed, That would explain the numbers being so twisted?

Yamahauler
10-14-2006, 09:21 PM
I think the label hes talking about is the displacement that is stamped on the back of the cylinder

Unclediezel

Do the Cyl's swap out?

He probably got the vin off the steering neck. But if he got the vin is off the engine cases it blows my mind.

I was thinking MAYBE the guts from a 225 would interchange with a 200, but that seems like a lot of work to go through. We need some pics of the bike, motor and of the vin numbers

Hey, there is a 1983 ytm200e motor in it. Thats cool, that means i could put a 225 in my 200, but its not worth it, haha.

a 200k Means a 1983 200....K stands for 1983, L is 84, N is 85, S is 86 (they skipped a few letters for some reason)........You dont always have to say the year letter after the model name. (YTM200EK is said 83 YTM200E usually)

The DX is just a model name...means nothing, but all DX models have suspension, shaft, elect start.

A DR model is the exact same as a DX, but it has Reverse.

So, your bike is a YTM225DX...with a YTM200E motor in it...so really you could call it a YTM200DX...

Hope that helps, kind of confusing.

ok it looks like this needs rings
so where is a could place to but them
you said its a 200e motor but some of the listing for stuff just say 200 is that the same
thanks marg

Unclediezel
10-22-2006, 06:49 PM
Yep-- 200cc is the same for "E" as it is for everything else. Only exception is a Blaster motor---its a two stroke.
