I need some info on how to remove the rocker arms out of the old head i pulled of my bike. The reason for this and was brought to my attention that a ticking sound in my 200ern could very well be the arms. I never had this problem with the old head i pulled off the bike. Because the bike was hardy used in the past execpt the last 7 years. Never the less how can i remove the pins holding the rocker arms on. I plan on changing the rocker arms and cam anything else that is useable out of the old head.

Until i have more info on this i WILL not be proceeding with this. which make sense.

Thank guys

You should see a metal plate with a single phillips head screw on it in the cylinder head cover, when you take that screw out the plate comes off. Now you should be able to see where the rocker arm shafts slide out of, you'll need a 6mm bolt to thread into the bodies of the shafts then grab the bolts with a wrench or vise grips and twist the shafts while pulling them out. The pic is straight from the Honda manual.

as soon as i was done posting this i went out to the garage and looked at it, found out it was threaded and inserted a bolt and got the intake arm out. BUT the other one, i can't get it out it's like it's stuck in there, the first one, little effort and out it came, the other one no way.:wondering

Instead of me posting a new topic on the same subject i'll just add to this one. I manage to get the two valves. rocker arms, valve setters, cam, springs ect ect, all out in one piece:w00t: . Some thing cought my eye (no not the spring i removed from the valve...lol) but i notice where the valves sit on the head (piston side) the silver ring use to seal the valves (so i'm told) was still silver with very little carbon build up, as well as the valves had very little carbon build up. Does this mean i WASN't lied to about the bike having very little use in the past? Also the head still had in places black paint still on it...the reason i'm asking is well i'm on of these people whom doesn't like being lied to make a quick buck.

you adjusted the valves before you came to the conclusion that the arms were what was ticking correct?

That silver "ring" should be there, if not then the valve will not seal, so that really isn't a good way of judging how much use the engine got in my book. Was there a lot of carbon build up on the head and top of the piston? How does the cam and rockers look?

YEP, intake 0.05mm - 0.09mm, exhaust 0.11mm-0.15mm, Unless it the adjuster screw ticking on the valves it's self, only two things it could be, i hope it to be.

cam and rockers are beautiful, not much if any ware on them, carbon, not much on the valves or head. but what i will do it take a picture in a few minutes and post it up.

here the picture of the head, i forgot about the valves and rocker arms, also heres a before and after picture of my project so far. i didn't want to have to buy a set of tires right a way but had no choice the other ones where dry rotted and going flat in 10 minutes, so i got a pair of FOX A/T AMS, also i will be looking for a new seat cover here in canada, where ever i might find one:)
