1985 200m

I just picked up a 1985 honda 200m, its got great compression, but i cant get it to get spark. I checked the coil and it works fine. My question is, does it need a battery to get a complete circut? the pull start is broken and i was using the electric start with a battery charger. any other ideas on why it isnt getting spark? thanks.

try useing a car battery with jumper cables, with a charger it may not have the power to crank the starter and give you spark at the same time.

It should create spark when you pull it over, regardless of whether a battery is there or not.
