i need help rebuiling my tecate (84) forks can anyone give me step by step directions on how to do this.i am 240lbs so can i run heavier oil in the forks i just trail ride nothing real crazy. what oil should i buy also will i need any special tools for the job thanks bill

you will probably need the fork spanner tool
heavier springs will help,and the oil 15 wt? hevier oil works bolth ways compression and rebounding!!!-- remember that
bike bandit-- will probably have the oem parts view
or mabe whittier fun center- they have some better microfiche- not sure of yours but try it

Its super easy if you have an air impact wrench. Put the fork bottom in a vise and put some pressure on the fork tube to compress it. This will hold the piece the allen screw on the bottom of the fork screws into so when you unscrew it, it wont just spin. After that the chrome tube will slide out and its straight forward from there.
