'85 250r Firing Help!!

been piecing this trike back together for about a year now........
got stator, wiring harness, swinger, and alot of other parts off the boards(3ww and .org)
and e-bay.
got the wiring hooked up and kicked it over....NO SPARK!!:(
somebody please tell me how to check stator, pulse gen.,and CDI
ohmeter can be had to check these items.
other than the 3 already mentioned, what else controls the firing???:confused:

check the ground on the frame. Make sure to take some sandpaper and sand off the frame so there is nice, bare steel showing.
