Hello, I was just recently given a Yamaha 225 dx that is in very rough shape. The person whom I got it from assured me that is runs great. Anyways the problems are the wiring is completely hacked up and the pull starter is in pieces. What I would like to do is get the pull start working and wire it to see if the motor works before getting to deep into this project. I dont want any fancy items like the headlight, taillight or electric start, just a bare bones running set up. how would I do this? Do I still need a battery? And do you guys know where I can get parts for the pull start system? I am just so excited to get this thing running and cleaning it up that I can hardly sleep. Please help a newb to the trike world!

the three things you should need then is, cdi, coil, and kill switch...Look around the forum you should be able to find a diagram. And that should help you out. See i went the other way with mine, i decked it out with hand warmers and high power head lights, back up light ect.ect of course now i took them off due to repairs. my new project is going to be hooking up a working brake light after i have it all painted up and stuff:w00t: .

p.s after you or one of us find the diagram for your bike we will start hacking out what you don't need.

I have a 225dx you do not need a battery. But if you the pull start parts you sure be able to get it to work.
