I would go with the 3rd generation too.
For your 1st gen picture, go to the Ebay forums and there is an auction for a 1981 or 1982 ATC 250r, get that picture and post it where the 1st gen is, that picture doesnt give it enough repect.

I kinda like that 2nd gen bike you have a picture of since it's mine,,,, I love it but I got old and the Big Red took it's place in the garage. Wife's car is outside also.

Hmmm. Each one has a spot in my heart for what they did to set the standard. If the 81 R never existed what would have started one of the sweetest, albeit short, performance eras in ATV history. Do you think that we would have the Raptors and be waiting for the latest 450's if it were not for Honda to have the balls to not only raise the bar with each generation, but provide the bar with the first gen. Ya I'm a Yammie fan, but I still appreciate what Honda did. Maybe they will show some balls again and create, or unleash a machine that will set the bar again for the others to catch up to. Just my two cents

I dunno why, but I've always been drawn to the early airfooler R's. I have no idea why though. :)

Thats why I built the one I did.....to be unveiled in December when the showroom is done. :D I do think the 86 is the best looking but all of them were great.

3rd Generations look the best and are my favorite. 1st generations are really cool too. being a new owner of a 2nd generation I gotta say - now I want one of each!

Same here. I realize the 3rd generations had more more power, better suspension and more top speed and I really liked riding a liquid R at Trikefest this year, but there is still something about the 83-84's. Either the look of old school racer combined with the new technology (pro link suspension, disk brakes all around, etc), or maybe even just seeing a huge jug with a bunch of fins sticking out of it, lol. They also seem to hit really hard on the low to mid range which is perfect for me. I guess what Im trying to say is I like all 3, and I would take any of them if given to me:lol:

Sandman, I see this is the second post you've asked about 250R's. You need to start your own topic so as not to take away from this one. Someone will help you, you just need to ask the right way.

We've got all 3 models, and I find the 1st gen. the most fun:D
The suspension, brakes, power, handling are no where near as good as the others but if you aren't concentrating it feels like it could throw you off at any moment:naughty: Maybe I'm strange, but I find it fun lol
