Hey guys, i was looking through craigslist and i found a '86 225DX shaft drive. How good are these bikes? How do they compare to a 200x? The ad says that it will start, but then it will die. They want $250 bucks for it! I've only owned Honda, and must say that they're a blast. Im kinda torn at the moment, because i have 2 deals in front of me; One is this bike for $250, havent seen the pics yet, OR 2 1985 Honda 200x bikes, one looks like its a full roller but no engine, and another complete bike, bad rear plastics, but full bike, and the only thing supposedly wrong with that one is that there is a "bent valve" or something. So, which deal do you guys think i should go after. I already have an auto X, and im trying to fix up another 84 200x that i have thats only missing the front and rear axles. So tell me what ya think, any input helps! Thanks! :beer

i would get the 225dx if you already have 2 200x's. i have a 200x and a 225dx and the 225 a great trail bike and a lot of fun. also they arent exactly common, not around where i live anyways. i wanted a 225dx forever and than i finally seen a sky blue one in a guys backyard and bought it from him just about a week ago.

Sounds like mine when I got it.Just needed a carb.

If you could get pics then that would help.

There are alot of difference between the two.

Whats the resale value for an '86 year DX? Im still contemplating this deal. Also, is there anything better about this year compared to others?

I have had them both and it would be a toss up. It depends on what your going for I would say that the DX would be a bit more reliable with the shaft drive and all. Parts for the DX are probably cheaper than the 200x but harder to find. if it were up to me id snag that dx
