ive got a 250sx thats not starting right. i can kick it until my leg cramps up, but it wont start, but i can use some starting fluid and spray into the carb, or pull the sparkplug, and pour some gas under it, and it'll start just fine... im also getting some white smoke after it starts.... anyone got some suggestions?

I would suggest a carb rebuild, or just a good carb cleaning. Hows the tank? Does gas flow from the petcock alright?
Your not getting gas..........
White smoke-------your burning oil. Rings COULD be bad.

Might be water in the carb.

Sounds like low compression at start. My Mazda does this too, smokes on startup but once it warms up the rings expand and it doesnt burn any more oil. Probably new rings and you'd be good to go.
Now here is the question, is it WHITE or does it have a BLUEish look to it? White is water and blue is oil. if its blue probably new rings, white drain the gas

I would do a compression test. Hard Starting is a symptom of low compression. Another thing would be to put a battery in it and use the electric starter. It cranks it over faster.
