Sorry I'm a noob.. I've read, searched, etc.
This is for a KLT 160 1985
I've managed to find / crossreference brake cables, managed to find a new rear cable off a 4 wheeler that fit, new front cable, put in new clutch, coil, fixed my switches, wiring issues..
BUT I just cannot get the carb right..
Mikuni VM22ss, which in looking everywhere is non-existant.. If I could I'd buy a new one. If I could just find a kit with the needle and seat I could probably get it.. I've tried adjusting the float and it still keeps pukin out the vent so it just is done..
history on this trike, was picking up 2 old landcruisers with a buddy from a lady's farm, this trike was sitting there all sad with off the rim front tire.. Rusted tank, etc.. After we loaded up the dead LandCruisers I asked about it.. FREE!
Had moss growing on it had been sitting so long.. Sealed the tank, original rear tires, new front tire, new clutch, cables, aircleaner, some paint, etc..

Just need a carb kit.. Or a source for a new carb.. Sudco only has VM22 which is a different mount, I didn't see an adapter to mount flange vs other for it or I'd give it a try. Would need to change out needle and jetting..

Any and all help appreciated. Thanks for the site! I've learned a ton by seaching.

And don't laugh at me.. I can't even find a source for Mikuni carb kits..

Kyster makes a full kit needle, seat, jets, gaskets for it for about 20 bucks, ANY good dealer can source this for you, or you can use a carb off a 185 / 200 Honda trike or 200 TRX, or the carb off a 185 KLT / Bayou

well, I'm back.. Trying like heck to get this sorted out.. My dealer sucks. They laugh.. I've tried many sources.
siriusconinc doesn't have a kit.. Dealer didn't have a kit..

from what I can tell the ALT185F from Suzuki is the same carb.. Can't find that one either.. And possibly the Suzuki GS550's and Kawasaki 650's had 4 of a very similar VM22SS carb. They just used like 4 of em instead of the little lonely one carb..
All I need is a source for a kit that won't laugh.. I guess I can order one for the GS550 and just pull the needle and seat out.. Should work.

Someone has to have a source for VM22SS kits. I really don't care what it cost at this point. just want the old girl to run for deer season which is closely approaching.

I haven't been all that idle.. other hobby is 4wheeling bigger vehicles and the season is almost over. thus back to the little guy..

Just a simple source for a carb kit is all I need. PLEASE..

Well,Im not sure but came across this while looking around?
Susposedly a YFZ350T Banshee uses the same carbs?
Hope it helps?

Have you tried ordering just the needle valve and seat from a Kawi dealer? You don't need a kit, most people get them because they are cheaper then buying an OEM needle valve.

Well, was hoping for a kit.. The darn needle and seat are $36.. Not that I really care at this point. I'll do that and look around. Figured I'd replace all the dried out orings at the same time with a kit..

I'll see about trying to find a banshee carb kit? I don't have this much trouble finding a carb kit for my 1964 Toyota Landcruiser that's in the garage.. I just feel really dumb trying to find a simple carb kit.
Thanks for all the help..

You might be in luck. I found this.

http://www.siriusconinc.com/carb/parts.asp#
Click on Keyster Carb Kits..Then Suzuki.
Put in GS550 as the model. These used the Mikuni VM22SS

that brings this up

KS-0250 Carburetor Repair Kit GS550 1977 1978 1979 $ 17.50 IN STOCK

I traced this through this link.

I hope this helps.

If you are going to use a kit from a different model make sure the parts you are going to use are the same. Just because it is the same carb. does not mean the parts other then the gaskets are the same.

Well. My update as much as I would like to hide my head in the sand at this point..
I had all the fuel lines hooked up as it came to me.. Notice I didn't say I had them hooked up correctly. Was helping a buddy service his 4wheeler and looked at the carb. Hmmmm Well. The fuel line from the PO was hooked up to the bowl vent so it was filling up the bowl, dumping out the opening on the bowl. I have no idea how it actually ran. My buddy cleaned the whole carb. It runs now.. Waiting on a choke and throttle cable as it surges some. Throttle cable sticks and not sure if choke cable sticks or not.. It's just easier to replace them while I can get em for $20 for the 2..

THe Banshee carb kit was a total waste.. I"ll try the other one next.

SO.. After studying the pictures in the manual I now know a ton more about atv carbs!

The only place I ever found klt carb parts was at the dealer. If you have a credit card, you can order parts from other dealers and have them sent to you. One site I like to frequent is Bikebandit.com, they have the parts the dealers can still get and some parts that are discontinued. You just have to look at their illustrations and order the parts you need. Their shipping is fast and you also get those neat bike bandit stickers.
