On my '83 200X I just got the MC resevoir was dry rotted, so I bought a new resevoir ($21!!! for a piece of plastic) of course 2 of the screws holding the top breaks, but when I go to bleed it I dont get any pressure. Is this a lost cause? I even bled it backwards, but no go. right now Ive got the thing full of fluid and the lever compressed, hoping maybe it'll rejuvinate itself. If its a lost cause can I just get one off a street bike? Im looking for cheap. thanks JIm

The same type thing happened to my Polaris when I did the brakes,I got a power bleeder from a friend and it worked out great.
I hope that helps?
My friend had one so I didnt have to buy it but there in the $27.00 ++++++ range

the old tried and trued method always works for me!
but, it will wear your hand out pumping it so many times.
if you pump it 5or6 times and open the bleeder, does any fluid come out?
if so, then you just gotta keep at it!
took about 30 min. on the front of my R but finally got them bled.:w00t:

Fluid flows fine, I pump it and it comes out slowly. I got this idea, I have a bottle that I can hook up a piece of vacuum tube to, and theres a tube that goes to the bottom of the bottle. Im going to put a tire valve on it fill it with brake fluid, then hood the tube from the bottle to the bleeder on the caliper, apply air and it should bleed back up through the MC. wish me luck. Jim

I got the EZ bleeder from james lucky ATV and it does pretty much the same thing you are doin but with no air, or a bottle, or hose. for $30 buck it is a very easy and wise investment.
as for your master cylinder, if you are not doin a restore job go with a TRX master cylinder. the whole assembly is metal so it wont break if a twig hits it in the trails and your fluid pressure to the caliper will almost double. the TRX master's are designed to run two calipers not one. I put one on my 81R and I was really happy with the out come.

If it's not leaking out anywhere, then probably full of air.

well I back flushed it, then put a hose on the zerk and pumped for a few minutes, the res. started to go down and I felt fluid being pumped out. I tighted it up and its working great! Now I just have to get some tires and decide if I just want to wrap the seat pan or order a seat cover. Jim
