It will barly budge! I can go back and forth about a quarter turn, that's it.... I was standing on the breaker bar and jump and still nothing!! I have tapped the head and all along the length the bolt stretches to try and loosen her up but still nothing........ the only thing I can think of is an impact gun to loosen up all the rust and crap that I'm sure is in there!! (BTW it has never been removed lol)
Any tricks that worked for you guys?????

I know some guys have to take a torch and heat it, or cut it in the middle cause they are so tight. Then they just buy a new one.

mine was able to turn nice and easily...my theory is this...
The nut that goes on teh end of the swingarm bolt was basically off the bolt, but was held in place by the brake pedal so it didnt fall out. I musta rode for tons of hours with that thing loose, including the ride in NH...
My bolt turned with ease...and im sure it had something to do with it.

Get a sawzaw or die grinder and cut that sucker out. Then email Xsystem and get the plastic type bushings that replaced everything around the swinger bolt. You will truely be amazed at this. You will NEVER have a frozen swinger bolt EVER again. No need for new bearings or shims, put the poly bushing things in both sides and mount it up. I know all about your frustration.

On my 84 I sprayed every thing besides dog piss on it for three days and it still wouldn't come out .The brake lever mounts on it too so i cut it off and tried poundind the other way, nothing. I had herd of the heat trick and had a torch but didn't have the ten dollars a piece to replace those seal cups that four of wicht are on there not to mention scewing up your swinger thingy also that pivot bolt is $90.00 new. So by this time Iam thinking about the torch. But not to heat anything up, to cut the dam* bike in pieces. Then I thought ,I have i electric jackhammer in my work truck. Put a piece of rebar instead of the bit hit it and it still took a min. to come out . you can rent em at home depot for $25.00. Hope you haven't done any thing too crazy yet. My ordeal lasted allmost 5 days.

I'm going to have to deal with this x4 sometime (once for each trike). I'm expecting everyone of them to be a pain in the arse. I should start coming up with ideas now.
Right now I'm trying to think of a way to rig up a hydraulic jack to press it out...

Mike the bike is stripped down to the frame....I'm wire brushing the frame and swinger, I need the swinger off to reach the rest of the frame...... So i can't ride...

that would be a good idea though to ride with it loose.

Get ready to have lots of fun!!! jk Anyrate be prepared as either the bolt or bearings or perhaps both with be destroyed in the process of removal. Its best just to start over with new parts anyway seeing that the old ones are 20 years old.
A trick that has worked a couple times is to cut of the head of the bolt on the other side and pound it out on the opposite side of the threads. Usually some creativity, WD40 or PB blaster, and a big sledgehammer are enough to free it.

Like scottZJ said we had to take the motor out, and used a sawzall between the rear motor mount and the swinger. on both sides of the mount. then still bang on the other parts some. but it was alot easier once that spot was cut out. i also cut the threaded part and the head part off right to the fram so i could pound them inward. seemed to work out great, and yeah i really liked those Polly bushings that scott got from xsystem. you can use another stock bolt with the poly bushings.

man oh man...good luck. I too cut both of mine out with a saws all. It's one of the chronic R problems. When you finally put it back together....lots of antiseize and take it apart every couple years to make sure it still comes apart. Good luck. It's a pain. I hope yours comes out easily.

Use an impact wrench. When I got my BEAT, rusty, POS 350X to restore I was like "Wow these bolts are going to be a beotch to get out, especially the big ones".. but an impact wrench took them right out. I tried and tried and tried to get the shock mount bolt and the swinger bolt out and then I saw the impact wrench sitting there on the shelf, and it was like a message from God.. "Use it!!!" lol.. so I did and it popped right out.

I had to beat the snot out of mine to get it out on my R. I had it down to the frame.
I used quite a bit of PB Blaster, and soak time. Then I got the 5 lb sledge out and beat the tar out of the bolt till it came out. I then used an old socket extension to force it out the rest of the way. You WILL destroy the bolt. I tried putting the nut on loose, hoping not to damage the threads, but no such luck. When it was finally out, I looked and noticed it was rusted heavily in place, and grooved at the spacers.
Definitely get the bushings from x.system. They are awesome. Just be careful installing them so you don't damage the ends of them. Grease up a new axle, slide it home, and never have to swear at the swingarm bolt, or bearings ever again. Hope you have an easier time with bolt than I did. I learned some new words when I worked on mine:)

I can tell you what worked for me.
I used a rivet gun with a soft piece of aluminum to protect the end of the bolt.
Use the vibrations of the rivet gun to drive it back and forth just a tiny bit each way.
Soon the corrosion will loosen an it will come out.
Good luck.
