sparkk test???

my 250sx wont spark,but then again i dont know the proper way to do a spark test,do i just take the plug out crank the motor an look for a spark.i know some knows the right way to do it

To test the spark you take the plug out and put the cap on then you touch the plug to the motor but don't touch the plug,just kind of leave it there and then you crank the engine.you should get a nice blue spark. just don't hang onto the plug because you'll get a nasty shock just to let you know.

the battery is dead,but im kick starting,should i have a battery that works or does it not matter,becuase im not getting a spark

the kickstarter will work to get it to spark. make sure your grounding it to a metal place on the engine. did it used to get spark, did it ever run?

i got it from my friend and it never ran, but it was because of a carb problem,i dont know why it wont spark

I do not know for sure....................but it is possible the the battery is part of the ignition circuit. If some one has a wiring diagram it would be helpfull.

well im not sure what is wrong, but i dont know if the coil is passing electrcity down to the spark boot,would a volt meter tell me if the electricity from coil is passing throught the boot?i dont think its the cdi though.heres a wiring diagram...http://www.files.3wheelerworld.com/Wiring/ATC250SXx86Thru87.jpg
