I WAS LOOKIN AT MY TRI Z THE OTHER DAY. and it must have the original wheels tyres on it.......BIG FAT BALLON THINGS. i think this thing could float on water if i tried?
i want to change to a bigger wheel and a low pro tyre, or flatter looking tyre.
so with some pics from you guys and detailed info . what wheels , tyres hubs and so on .
this will be a good place to show off your wheels and give other ppl some info on what to put on there tri z,s

i use many different ones, i now use yzf450 tires and factory 9 inch wheels, also i run turf tamers on 10 inch rims, i tried them 44 inch tires but they wouldnt clear the rear fenders (or the footpegs)

if you flip the stock wheels around i think you gain just over an inch. valve stems also will be a little more protected from side ways action!

Iwallace, since you haven't gotten a straight answer or pictures yet from any of the Tri-Z guys yet, I guess an old reliable Honda 250R guy will have to come to the rescue. Even though it's a Honda, you can still get the same tires for your Z. These are 18x11x10 (18" diameter x 11" wide x 10" wheel) Fast Trekkers. I would then recommend either an ITP or Douglass 10x8 rear wheel, with 3+5 offset, to mount them on, and I haven't heard of any difficulty getting those wheels in your bolt pattern (4 on 115mm I believe). I don't have a pic of them, but 18 or 19x11x10 Holeshots are also very popular low profile rear tire choices.
With either set of tires, you'll love how the bike handles. The ride will be a bit stiffer, because you no longer have those big balloon tires soaking up the bumps, but the improved looks, handling, and ability to confidently pitch it sideways at a moments notice will more than make up for it.

Red Rider,
Shouldn't those hooks be facing the other way?

Shouldn't those hooks be facing the other way?On my first set of Fast Trekkers, I did have them facing the other way, and they had no directional arrows. Now the manufacturer puts directional arrows on them, and they are mounted up properly. Seems backwards though doesn't it?
i run a titan 489 23 inch on the front. i want to go with a 22 inch up there next time.the rears, i run 18 inch holeshots on 9 inch offset rims on honda 250x hubs.this set-up gives you 50 inches of width in the rear.

Now we're getting some responses from the Tri-Z guys. From the way that the Z owners are responding, early-mid afternoon, I can tell that those with flattrack tires are party animals, and are just now getting up after a long night of partying. And those that get up earlier are wiseguys.

Banshee axles will fit in the Z's. However there is no width gain unless you go to an extended one. I'm currently running a YFZ450 axle in mine with the YFZ sprocket hub and modded Z brake hub. Stock Z wheels flipped inside out (offset). If your not jumping it any the easiest thing would be a pair of wheel spacers (4/130 if you have the stock hubs, same as a yamaha blaster) or 4/115 if you have banshee hubs.

The old school choice would be Turf Tamers 18x11-8 or the triangle pattern Hoosiers. Turf Tamers worked pretty good for most rideing.

The stock bolt pattern is 4/100. I should have a new rear end setup very soon so when I have them I will post up ;) Its involving douglass wheels and turf tamer tires.
Dammit!

My Z came with stock YFZ450 wheels/hubs/tires. Good traction, flat profile but still 21 inches tall for good clearance in the trails.

What do you guys recommend for the dunes? I'm lookin at 10 inch douglas rims w/ Skat Trak "edge" tires. Or should I look into a different wheel size?
