I talked to a lady whos got a 200X in her yard for sale, asking price is $275. I havent seen it yet actually may go look at it tommorrow, so I need some expert opinions here.
she says the following, plastic is faded and has some cracks, seat is in need of recovering, no back tires or wheels on the trike, but she does have a couple in the yard I can have. I guess this is a mono shock? anyway the shock is broke so the back is just sitting there sagging. the good part is she claims the motor starts fine, and thinks its a 86 or a 85.
64 dollar question. is it worth $275 dollars? Jim

Last thing Im not buying it to part out. Ive always thought the 200X was a cool ATC, so if I get it I plan on putting it back together. Jim

i wouldnt think 275.00 is a little high if it needs that much work. but i really dont know.

I would buy it too, well...it depends what you want from it, if you want it as just a rider to have fun on, buy it, who care if the plastic is faded, a shock shouldnt be that much, and if those tires and rims dont fit you can get some for cheap on here or on E-bay. If you are going to buy it to use as a show bike, it will cost alot by the sounds of it to fix and I would not go with it then. Make sure you get some :pics: if you go and have a look at it.

I think Im going to go with some cash, if it starts, great if not, I'll see how low she'll go. What kills me is I bought a 125M with a 200S front end on it 2 weeks ago for 200 bucks. And what Ive always wanted was a 200X I just never found one cheap enough. I it would be better to find a complete driver, but I can alway buy parts little by little. and I think the rear wheels on the 125 I have has hubs with the same bolt pattern so I maybe able to borrow the wheels I already have. I would low-ball her, worst case senario, you have to throw about $200-300 into putting her back together. If it is what she says, then you would end up with a totally decent $500 200x.

I would be all over it.

Good luck.

if it is a 86 model, pay it and go home happy. if it is a 85 try to get it for 175.00.the way to tell, is the swingarms are way different.the 86 model has a eccentric carrier for adjusting the chain, like a 300ex 400ex 250r. the 85 has the chain adjustment at the swingarm bolt.there were 2 little dirtbike adjusters in the frame to move the swingarm back and forth to get the chain adjusted. there were many other differences too,but that is the easiest to see. the 85 was not a bad trike, but the 86 and 87 200x was way better all around.ohh yeah. the 85 has a round tube frame. the 86-87 200x had a square tube frame.the 86 87 was better and worth more money.

Well I went ahead and took the plunge I think its a 83 model with the serial number JH3TB0522DC288XXX the seats ripped plastic is cracked some, and faded, rear hub is missing one of the castle nut. back tires are bald and flat, has a super trapp muffler on it. front brake master cyl. res. is cracked. rear brake works, worse part is the back shock where the rod goes into the mounting bracket broke I think I can rethread it and install it. the motor does fire right up and no smoke. when you kick start it, its feels like its got alot of compression. ended up paying $250 for it, I didn't have the heart to try to lowball her. Awsome deal, I cant wait to get my quad sold and buy something just like that. I want something that is cheap, needs work, and in the end will be a trike and under $700.

Moshman nailed it....if its an 86 with the sqaure tube frame take it and run...any others lowball er and see what happens. if it runs and yer not too conserned about cosmetics it shouldnt cost to much to get it ride able.

i have parts for that clam if needed rear shock and such. that is worth the 250 all day. i had bought two of these for 300 in rough shape and built a buety. i bought black maier plastics for it painted the tank black. all said and done i had $900 into it and it looked brandy new! enjoy those are one of the best all around trikes out there IMO

I picked up a hub, washer, nut, also it had 250SX rims on it so I traded the rim in on a pair of aluminum 200X rims, and got a shock thats not broke. ended up paying 250 for the trike and 75 bucks for all the other parts. took it for a spin what a difference, I had a 200S and also own a 125m with a 200s front end on it. really like the 200X Jim
