There has been some claims of an 87 Tri-z and an 87 350X lately. I'm having a hard time with this. Everything I've know points to this being false. What 87 three wheelers were there? Can anyone clear this up? Partsfish has listings for the 87 ATC250ES, ATC250SX, ATC200X, and the ATC 125M. Were these some of them?

Let's not forget Kawaskai's: KLT 185-A2, KXT 250-B2 Tecate
You nailed all the Honda's sold in the USA.

I dont know i should reply to this...I might make someone cry
-----
theres no question that there was never a 87 TRI-Z 250 but there was 87 200x & 125...and theres a bit of doubt about the big red but most of believe it exists--my brother actually ende dup with one i think..and sold it for $550!. However, there is some doubt that the 350x and 250r ever existed....and if they did--they were not available in the USA...mostly canada if anywhere. TOo ba dwe dont have as many candadians as we do americans here...we might know someday! ;)

I know for a fact there was an '87 big red b/c my dad owned one and later sold it. I looked at the frame tag & it said 1987.

I'm Canadian, and in the 20 or so years that I've been involved with trikes, I have never seen an 87, let alone seen an ad for one for sale....

I have owned 87 125m's and a 87 200x. I don'tthink I have pictures of the 125m but here is picture of the tag from the 87 200x I owned.

Well, I don't know if this is accurate, but here's an '87 Big Red for sale on ebay and it is totally MINT!!!

Someone here should jump on it! Although I have to admit, 2 grand is a little bit steep...
But then again, how many '87 Big Reds are you gonna find in this condition?

So can we safely say there was no 87 350X, 250R, or Tri-Z?

I personally don't think that was any of them at all sold in the USA. How ever the brochure says they were sold in Canada. Until we see proof I say nope there never was any of them.

Really old post, but curious if anyone has found an 87 350x or 250r. There appeared to be only a handfull of members when this was posted. I just thought with everyone out there now, someone might have an 87.

Not to my knowledge. Been some pieces found, like an 87 250R seat, and some part #s for stuff. But...never a whole bike.

There are 88 big reds across the ponds that have been posted.
There are no 250r's, 350x's, or Z's. Never even any evidence to show to plans for one. At least Honda released a brochure picturing theirs.
ive never seen a 87 here in canada at all.
Nice thread digging BTW..... :)

there are 86/87 200x/250sx/250es. There is also a 88 250es.
The 1987 250R will show up eventually from Canada. There were at least a dozen or so sold to lucky Canucks.
I've spent some time on the phone with a few old school dealers - who have no reason to lie - and I'm pretty confident the 87R's are scattered around some small rural communities.
Fact is - the most elusive, fabled trike of them all - the 1987 250R is probably behind some 50 year old's house, near the saltwater, rusting away.
Regardless - one of these 87 model year R's will eventually be made public.
Almost forgot - I'm not sure if this is 'allowed' or if it's 'frowned' upon with the new rules of 3ww - if so, mods feel free to delete and sorry in advance - but uh, I did an interview with Dean Kirsten a while back and he didn't beat around the bush on this issue - He assured me, with confidence, that the 87R were sold in small numbers in Canada.
Dean Kirsten interview (warning - will take you to af.com website) (http://airfoolers.com/?page_id=213)
It was after his confident vouch for the existence of these 87's that I decided to start contacting older ATV shop owners from the mid 80's to see what I could dig up.
I'm now confident there's a few out 'in the wild' with maybe a couple more not unlike the 'crated' 86 that just turned up.
We'll see what happens in time.

ONE person claimed as little as 2 weeks ago he found one, a 87 350X, claimed it had a key - blah blah blah.....
I call BS, at this point we'd do ANYTHING for proof, it would be the holy grail so nor I or anyone else were ready to hear any excuses.................
I like the kid so IDW to starts a war, it just made very little sense to me to be in front of one and walk away.

 These threads crack me up. I love watching all you huge Honda fans gettting your shorts all narled up over this subject. I think I know where alot of them are. Done some investgation my self. I have talked with nemerious dealers and people who witnessed it. The claim is that they are buried under the car port. Along with alot of old cars that they could not sell. And unless you have a pocket bbook to buy a parking lot the size of a US state im not sure your gonna have an option to dig them up. My dad knows a guy who has a big red that he set aside when this went on.
Also why is there no talk of the 1988 Tecate 3 and the 1987 Yamaha Tri Z?
