i think they had a heli coil kit in their and didn't install it correct cause it fell out and is aluminum thread.

Heli coils are a steel insert. Look and see if there are any threads left in the case. My guess would be someone cross-threaded your plug bolt and some of the aluminum that fell out was part of your old threads.

I went to do my oil change today and stripped my 85 R out too! Crazy.... I was finally done with my rebuild and restore and everything just too have this bs.

I think it is a 12mm x 1.75 . The threads are pretty fine so my guess is the 1.75. Im just going to take my plug in and find a nut that fits then ill know the pitch. Helicoil here i come.

I bought a torque wrench to save me from stripped chit and all it has done is make me strip things more often. Unless im dealing with fresh threads and new parts im keeping the torque wrench in the drawer from now on.

Sorry dude, for some reason I was thinking it was finer. Its either 1.5 or 1.25 like you said.

I believe the Zuki LT250R plug is larger so one could buy that and tap it to that size: 14m 1.75 pitch. So I would guess 250r is 12mm 1.75.

I can save you $79.00. I'll give you an over size drain plug for free. I have one on the shelf in the shop. If you want it let me know.
